  • Patent number: 9919875
Abstract: A motorized drum having a drum shell with a motor therein, the motor having a stationary shaft, stator windings, and a stator support structure that is affixed to the stationary shaft. A rotor rotates coaxially around the stator, and a cycloidal reducer has an output that rotates at a reduced rate. The reducer output is rotationally fixed to, and is disposed within, the drum shell. An input gear of the reducer received a hollow eccentric input shaft, and is urged into eccentric motion as the input shaft rotates. The output gear urges the drum shell into rotation at same rate of rotation as the output gear. An harmonic drive speed reducer that has an input shaft provides rotatory motion to a wave generator that is disposed against a flexible splined member. The flexible splined member engages a rigid circular spline member at two radially opposed zones. Induction and permanent magnet forms of operation are used.

  • Patent number: 7354409
Abstract: An assembly comprising of spiral sub-assemblies, each provided with plastic rollers and connected to an output shaft of a gearbox attached to a swinging beam, is mounted to a seat frame with two vertical wires. Two adjustable cables are connected to the swinging beam-ends, and press the spiral assembly rollers against the seat-back cover by bending the vertical wires. The rotation of the spiral assemblies moves the contact points of the rollers with the seat-back cover up and down, creating a massage effect throughout the seat-back cover.

  • Publication number: 20080071201
Abstract: An assembly comprising of massage sub-assemblies, each one provided with contact components mounted on zigzag wire support, profile tube or rod, or flexible shaft and connected to an output shaft of a gearbox attached to the upper beam, is mounted to a seat frame between the upper and lower beams. When the system is provided with pressure adjustable device, the lower beam is suspended to vertical components pivoting on the sidewall of the seat frame. Two pressure adjustable cables are connected to the lower beam-ends, and press the massage assemblies through the seat-back cover mounted on the vertical components and moving synchronously with the system. The rotation of the massage assemblies modifies the contact points with the seat-back cover, creating a massage effect.

  • Publication number: 20040057926
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compositions for modulating an immune response by controlling the level of arginase available to a cell, tissue or system. An immune response can be enhanced or depressed by altering the amount of arginine available to a cell, tissue or system through the manipulation of localized or systemic arginine levels using substances which provide arginine to the body and enzymes which break down arginine, such as arginase and nitric oxide synthase. Increasing or decreasing an immune response according to the present invention provides therapeutic treatments for a variety of conditions and diseases. The present invention also provides clinical methods and kits which can measure the strength or resistance to an immune response in a cell, tissue or system based upon the amount of available arginine and enzymes which break down arginine.

  • Patent number: 4026393
Abstract: A brake disc for disc brakes on rail vehicles comprises an intermediate member connected to the inner peripheral surface of an annular element. The intermediate member is spaced radially from a hub and there are a pair of radially opposed annular grooves in the hub and intermediate member with blocks of resilient material in the opposed grooves. The blocks are pre-stressed and completely occupy the widths of the grooves. Heat inhibiting material is provided for inhibiting heat flow from the annular braking element to the resilient blocks.

  • Patent number: 3957139
Abstract: In order to prevent the assembly of an unspecified brake lining onto a brake lining support for a brake shoe a face of the brake lining support is provided with guide means of a particular section and the mounting face of the brake lining is provided with counter-guide means having an inverted mirror section with respect to the brake lining support guide means. In this manner only a brake lining having a particular counter-guide means can be assembled on a brake lining support having a particular guide means.
