The device includes the electrode being arranged for detecting a change of a skin impedance and being configured for switching from a stimulation mode of operation for stimulating the nerve, into a recalibration mode of operation upon detection of the changed skin impedance. The device may include a plurality of electrodes being configured for detecting the change of the skin impedance and being configured for adjusting an electrical current flowing through the skin via the plurality of electrodes.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a device (10) for applying transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation via an electrode (22), and to a method of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. The device comprises the electrode being arranged for detecting a change of a skin impedance and being configured for switching from a stimulation mode of operation (30) for stimulating the nerve into a recalibration mode of operation (32) upon detection of the changed skin impedance. In an embodiment, the device comprises a plurality of electrodes being configured for detecting the change of the skin impedance and being configured for adjusting an electrical current flowing through the skin via the plurality of electrodes.
