  • Patent number: 7885313
Abstract: A method and apparatus of reducing interference between subsystems implementing wireless communication protocols is disclosed. The method comprises reducing interference in a first subsystem implementing a first wireless communication protocol operating in a first frequency band caused by a second subsystem implementing a second wireless communication protocol operating in a second frequency band, the second wireless communication protocol employing Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH), the method comprising calculating one or more frequencies to be avoided by the second subsystem on the basis of one or more frequencies in use by the first subsystem.

  • Publication number: 20100202327
Abstract: A method for communication includes transmitting a first uplink message from a first remote node (200, 300, 400) to a central node (100) in a wireless communication system according to a first frequency hopping scheme, and transmitting a second uplink message from a second remote node to the central node in the wireless communication system according to a second frequency hopping scheme, different from the first scheme. Both the first and the second uplink messages are received and processed at the central node.

  • Publication number: 20080287158
Abstract: A method and apparatus of coordinating operation of subsystems implementing different wireless communication protocols is disclosed. The method comprises coordinating operation of a first subsystem implementing a first wireless communication protocol and at least other subsystem implementing at least one other wireless communication protocol by arbitrating between conflicting real time requests for access from the first subsystem and the at least one other subsystem based on a respective type and priority of the requests.

  • Publication number: 20080285536
Abstract: A method and apparatus of coordinating operation of two or more subsystems implementing different wireless communication protocols is disclosed. The method comprises coordinating operation of a first subsystem implementing a first wireless communication protocol and at least one other subsystem implementing at least one other wireless communication protocol by merging requests from the first subsystem for pre-scheduled access and real time access into a single request for access for the first subsystem. The method comprises merging requests from the at least one other subsystem for pre-scheduled access and real time access into a single request for access for the at least one other subsystem and arbitrating between the single requests for access for each subsystem to allocate access to the first subsystem and/or the at least one other subsystem.

  • Publication number: 20080273577
Abstract: A method and apparatus of reducing interference between wireless communication protocols is disclosed. The method comprises reducing interference between a first wireless communication protocol operating in a first frequency band and a second wireless communication protocol operating in a second frequency band by generating noise to cause interference with one or more frequencies in the second frequency band and performing Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) in the second wireless communication protocol to avoid the one or more frequencies in the second frequency band in which interference is caused by the noise.

  • Publication number: 20080159242
Abstract: A wireless device is capable of communicating within a local area network (LAN) and a personal area network (PAN) concurrently, using a single wireless networking module or circuit. A wireless access point within an infrastructure-based network is used to manage the creation, maintenance, and termination of PANs within the LAN framework.

  • Patent number: 5923702
Abstract: This invention discloses a frequency hopping cellular LAN system including a LAN, a plurality of access points each operatively connected to the LAN, the plurality of access points including at least a first access point and a second access point, and a station which communicates with at least some of the plurality of access points using frequency hopping spread spectrum wireless communication, wherein the first access point and the second access point each communicate with the station using a first and second predetermined sequence of frequencies respectively, and wherein, during a neighbor beacon interval, the second access point communicates with the station using the first predetermined sequence of frequencies, and wherein the station chooses an access point with which to communicate based, at least in part, on a transmission received from the second access point during the neighbor beacon interval.
