  • Patent number: 12007406
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are provided for activity detections based on device orientation and user handedness. A method may include determining, by a wearable device, first and second accelerometer data, the first accelerometer data associated with a first axis, and the second accelerometer data associated with a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The method may include determining a first mean acceleration value based on the first accelerometer data, and determining a second mean acceleration value based on the second accelerometer data. The method may include determining, based on the first mean acceleration value and the second mean acceleration value, an orientation of the wearable device, the orientation indicative of a user wearing the wearable device on a right limb or a left limb. The method may include sending an indication of the orientation to an application of the wearable device.

  • Patent number: 11989026
Abstract: An autonomous mobile device (AMD) may perform tasks within a physical space. The AMD may move over ramps, bumps, or navigate around obstacles. The AMD may have an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and distance sensors. The IMU provides tilt information indicative of the AMD being on a flat surface or a ramp. The distance sensors provide information on distances between the AMD and surrounding obstacles. Using IMU measurements, the AMD determines a first speed limit that is safe given the tilt of the AMD. Using the distance sensors, the AMD determines a second speed limit that is safe given a distance to an obstacle. The AMD determines a maximum speed based on the first and second speed limits. Based on the maximum speed, the AMD determines whether to adjust a current speed and by how much.

  • Patent number: 11723564
Abstract: A compact optical sensor is used to determine heart rate, hemoglobin, hydration, peptides, or oxygen saturation using a light source and a single photodiode. The single photodiode has a first filter and a second filter. The first filter is closer to the light source and is transparent to green light and blocks red light. The second filter is farther from the light source and is transparent to red light and blocks green light. This arrangement of the filters facilitates acquisition of backscattered light from desired depths of measurement within the body of a user. At a first time, the light source emits red light and first output from the photodiode is determined. At a second time, the light source emits green light and second output from the photodiode is determined. The optical sensor determines oxygen saturation using the first output and heart rate using the second output.
