  • Patent number: 9720669
Abstract: Software is prepared for deployment across an enterprise system. The software initially included a base package and now includes an extended package. The extended package includes duplicate files and new files with respect to the base package. A method comprises using a computer to create indices of files for each of the base and extended packages, the indices identifying properties of the files; compare the properties of the files listed in the indices to identify the duplicate files and the new files in the extended package; and create a deployment package that includes only the new files.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 1, 2017
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Kenneth Todd Murray, Miroslav Iordanov Spassov, Alexander James Mitchell
  • Patent number: 9026995
Abstract: A software settings management tool is described that automates much of the process of checking, changing, creating and/or maintaining software settings. The software settings management tool provides users and/or administrators with user-friendly interfaces to view, modify and save all of their software settings (perhaps thousands of settings, extracted from thousands of proprietary software files) all in one place, while the underlying methods and routines of the software settings management tool handle the complex and error-prone tasks of managing modifications of proprietary files and ensuring that added and changed settings are installed correctly.
