  • Patent number: 6776902
Abstract: High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods and systems are disclosed that combine parallel chromatographic separation of a plurality of samples with a detection technique that involves post-separation treatment of the plurality of samples to enhance one or more properties of the sample or of a component thereof, followed by detection of the one or more enhanced properties. • Patent number: 6716948
Abstract: Controlled architecture polymers made preferably with acrylamide type monomers are prepared in living-type or semi-living-type free radical polymerizations, with the architecture preferably being other than linear, such as star, branched, grafted or hyper-branched. The controlled architecture polymers have high weight average molecular weights and low viscosities, which make they particularly useful in replaceable capillary electrophoresis separation media for biological molecules, such as DNA fragments.

  • Publication number: 20030196896
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for screening separation media for performance in capillary electrophoresis. In one aspect the invention comprises concurrently loading a plurality of capillaries from one corresponding end of each with a respective plurality of separation media, adding a sample to each capillary, advancing the samples through the capillaries under an applied electric field, measuring a property of the samples or components thereof as they advance through the capillaries, and using the measured properties to identify one or more preferred sets of separation media. At least one of the steps of loading or advancing are carried out simultaneously over the plurality of capillaries.

  • Publication number: 20030172724
Abstract: A liquid chromatography column distributor spreads liquid over the internal cross sectional area of the column to facilitate separation of the liquid in the column into its constituent components for analysis, particularly where the volume of liquid is small and the rate of flow through the column is high. The distributor is useful for small volumes, less than 100 micro liters. The distribution is preferably done in two or more stages by two or more plates arranged in series. This arrangement keeps the flow paths short and volumes of channels in the plate carrying the liquid small. The distributor may be used in a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in which liquid flows at high rates through the column. The distributor is constructed to protect the liquid sample from damage.
