Abstract: This invention relates to a device for an outside mirror for motor vehicles which is electrically slowly shiftable around a vertical axis for adjustment purposes and rapidly shiftable temporarily by a switch to check the blind spot. A supplemental device comprises first element which, when said switch is actuated, oscillates between two limit points whereby at the actuation of said switch a synchronous and fast shifting of the mirror around the vertical axis is effected, and a second element running synchronously with the slow shifting of the mirror around the vertical axis for adjusting the mirror to the distance of the driver's eyes fixes the two limit points for the fast shifting of the mirror. According to the invnetion the supplemental device (without said switch) is situated directly behind the mirror. A third element extends into the supplemental device establishing a direct mechanical connection between the mirror and the first and second element. Thus a very compact and secure device is formed.

The turn signal lever arm is provided with a switch at its free end. The invention comprises a switch capable of being articulated about the end of the turn signal lever arm from a rest position in a plane parallel to the plane of motion of the turn signal lever arm to an activated position in which the position of the mirror is altered. The switch is moved counter-clockwise to shift a left outside mirror, and clockwise to shift a right outside mirror.

Abstract: An outside rear view mirror for vehicles comprising a mirror having adjustment means to adjust it between different rest positions for different driver positions, shift means for temporarily shifting the mirror from a normal viewing angle in its rest position to a wider viewing angle, and programming means to automatically determine the degree of shift of the mirror according to the angle between the mirror in its rest position and the vehicle body.

Abstract: An outside rearview mirror for vehicles, especially trucks and the like, comprising a main rearview mirror fastened to the vehicle body, an auxiliary mirror stored behind the main mirror, and motor means for swiveling or sliding the auxiliary mirror from its stored position behind the main mirror to a working position adjacent the main mirror and back again. In its working position, the auxiliary mirror provides the driver of the vehicle with an expanded field of view, particularly in the area immediately next to the vehicle and just rearward the mirror.
