  • Patent number: 8985167
Abstract: A tire for motorcycles, having a tread band includes a central annular portion, two lateral annular portions and two shoulder annular portions. The axial extension of these portions is not greater than 25%, 35%, and 20% of the axial development of the tread band, respectively. The tread band includes a module repeated along the circumference of the tire in which at least two substantially longitudinal grooves, mainly extending in the lateral annular portions, include, moving axially away from the equatorial plane of the tire, at least three substantially straight and substantially consecutive segments, wherein the first segment forms an angle with respect to the equatorial plane greater than 150°; and the second segment has a length measured along its extension smaller than the length of the first segment.

  • Publication number: 20110162769
Abstract: A motorcycle tyre includes: a tread band with a tread pattern including, in a zone symmetrically arranged on either side of the equatorial plane, a first module repeatedly duplicated in a direction of circumferential extension of the lyre. The module has at least two first longitudinal grooves inclined in an oppositely arranged manner relative to the equatorial plane; and at least two substantially transverse grooves designed to intersect the two longitudinal grooves so as to define at least one block. The zone has a width in the axial direction of between 20% and 65% of the width of the tread band and a solids/voids ratio equal to at least 0.20. The tread pattern also has at least one substantially transverse continuous portion which extends over the entire width of the tread band delimiting at least one end of the module in the circumferential direction.

  • Publication number: 20110139328
Abstract: A process for building a green tyre for a vehicle wheel includes the steps of: a) building a carcass structure of a green tyre on a forming drum, the carcass structure including at least one carcass ply and a pair of annular anchoring structures, said at least one carcass ply being built by laying circumferentially contiguous strip-like elements; b) toroidally shaping the carcass structure for associating it to a crown structure including at least one belt structure; wherein step a) of building includes at least one step of applying a constraining layer of a green elastomeric material reinforced with fibres oriented substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation of said forming drum, the green elastomeric material reinforced with oriented fibres exhibiting at 20% of elongation in a direction parallel to the direction of orientation of the above fibres, a strain level higher than or equal to 0.

  • Publication number: 20110100518
Abstract: A motorcycle tyre includes a tread band divided into a central zone and two shoulder zones. The central zone extends symmetrically on either side of the equatorial plane of the tyre over a width less than or equal to 60% of the lateral extension of the tread band and has in the central zone at least one first module repeatedly duplicated in a direction of circumferential extension of the tyre including: at least two longitudinal grooves inclined relative to the equatorial plane; and at least two substantially transverse grooves intersecting the two longitudinal grooves so as to define at least one block. The central zone further has a solids/voids ratio greater than the solids/voids ratio of the shoulder portions. The tread pattern has at least one circumferentially continuous rib situated in an axially outer portion of the shoulder portions.
