  • Patent number: 5786304
Abstract: A joining product of oxide superconducting materials having a high current density and process for producing the same. A joining product comprising a plurality of oxide superconducting materials having an identical crystal orientation joined with each other through a superconducting phase of the same type as described above which has the same crystal orientation as the oxide superconducting materials and a lower peritectic temperature than the oxide superconducting materials.

  • Patent number: 5523166
Abstract: A dense insulating thin film having a remarkably improved insulating property can be formed by a process comprising a first step of forming a first portion of an insulating thin film on a substrate by a sputtering process without exposing the substrate to a plasma or while irradiating the substrate with low energy particles and a second step of forming a second portion of the insulating thin film on the first portion while exposing the substrate to a plasma or while irradiating the substrate with high energy particles, thereby forming said insulating thin film on the substrate. The insulating property in terms of the dielectric breakdown voltage is 100 V or more as determined in a film thickness of 1 .mu.m or less and an area of 20 mm.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 5427843
Abstract: A ceramic single layer-coated metal sheet having an excellent decorative property and a high weatherability, which comprises a metal substrate and a transparent ceramic layer formed on the metal substrate by a dry process such as physical vapor deposition or chemical vapor deposition, said transparent ceramic layer having a thickness of 0.05 to 5 .mu.m and a refractive index in the visible region of at least 2.0. A ceramic multiple layer-coated metal sheet having an excellent decorative property and a high weatherability is also disclosed, which further comprises a colored ceramic layer between the substrate and the transparent ceramic layer, the first layer being formed of at least one member selected from the group consisting of nitrides, carbides and carbonitrides of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, Cr, Nb and Al and having a thickness of 0.1 to 1 .mu.m.

  • Patent number: 5192410
Abstract: A metal plate is given an excellent decorative color by a multi-ceramic coating of a colored ceramic layer formed over the metal plate, the colored ceramic layer being made of at least one selected from the group consisting of nitrides and carbides of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, chromium, niobium, and aluminum and having a thickness of 0.1 .mu.m to 1 .mu.m; and a transparent ceramic layer formed over the colored ceramic layer, the transparent ceramic layer being made of at least one of the group consisting of silicon oxide, silicon nitride, and aluminum oxide and having a thickness of 0.1 .mu.m to 5 .mu.m. The depositions of the colored and transparent ceramic layers are effected by a dry process, and the order of deposition of the colored and transparent ceramic layers can be reversed.

  • Patent number: 4999259
Abstract: Chrome-coated stainless steel is provided that has better adhesion, even when it is being shaped, than conventional wet-type plating, and better atmospheric corrosion resistance than bare stainless steel. In addition, the chrome-coated stainless steel, provided by means of physical vapor deposition, also possesses the same color tone and luster as chromium, and thus has superior decorative compatibility with existing wet-type chrome plated parts.
