  • Patent number: 6098975
Abstract: A sheet processing device according to the present invention is formed of a support device for supporting one or more sheets supplied from an image forming device, an ejecting device for ejecting the one or more sheets supported by the support device, and a stacking device for stacking the one or more sheets ejected from the support device by the ejecting device; wherein the sheet processing device further includes an auxiliary support device which is disposed at a distal end side in a sheet ejecting direction of the support device, and the auxiliary support device is rotatably moved between a support position for supporting at least a forward end of the sheet and a retreating position retreated from the support position. Therefore, a stacking area of the support device can be varied, and moreover, ejecting the one or more sheets temporarily stacked on the stacking device can be easily operated.

  • Patent number: 5921545
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically feeding sheets to an image forming device such as a copying machine is provided with a sheet register means formed of one or more outside rollers movable into and out of contact with one or more feed rollers in rotation and one or more inside rollers located side by side with the feed rollers, so that the outside rollers rotate when being in touch with the feed rollers to forward the sheet. The outside and inside rollers are rockingly moved by shifting means, so that, when the sheet is given from a sheet supply unit, the outside rollers is separated from the feed rollers to rest the outside and inside rollers so as to bring the sheet into collision with the resting outside and inside rollers to slightly bend the leading portion of the sheet, consequently fulfilling a registering function of correcting the orientation of the sheet with relation to a feeding direction.

  • Patent number: 5810352
Abstract: A sorter has a plurality of sorting tray to receive copied sheets. The sorting trays are moved vertically upon rotation of screw rods. The screw rod has a spiral cam groove with a predetermined cam profile formed on the outer periphery thereof. Cam followers of the sorting tray is engaged with the spiral cam groove. The cam groove is formed such that a distance between adjacent sorting trays in the vertical direction the screw rod is stopped at a first rotational position is different from that when the screw rod is stopped at a second rotational position.

  • Patent number: 5749573
Abstract: A sorter for receiving sheets supplied from a sheet supply machine is formed of a sheet distributing section for distributing sheets supplied from the sheet supply machine, a plurality of bins situated near the sheet distributing section for receiving the sheets from the sheet distributing section, and a positioning device for positioning the bins to a home position, a sheet receiving position and a sheet taking position. The bins are arranged adjacent to each other and are movable relative to the sheet distributing section. The home position is located at one side of the sheet distributing section, wherein the bins are stacked adjacent to each other with a distance (L1) away from each other. All the bins may be located in the home position. The sheet receiving position faces the sheet distributing section to receive the sheet onto the bin, wherein a sheet receiving bin except a top bin is situated away from a bin located above the sheet receiving bin with a distance (L2).

  • Patent number: 5732940
Abstract: Printed sheets discharged from a copying machine are fed by a sheet feed mechanism through a sheet reception slot and stacked selectively onto a non-sorting tray in a non-sorting process or a tiltable sorting tray among a plurality of sorting trays which is located in a sheet receiving position in a sorting process or a grouping process. The sorting tray in the sheet receiving tray is in a first posture in which it is inclined to a horizontal surface by an acute angle. The posture of the sorting tray is changed from the first posture to a second posture in which it is substantially horizontal when it is moved from the sheet receiving position to a sheet removal position. A pile of printed sheets stacked on the tiltable sorting tray in the sheet removal position is gripped by a gripper mechanism. The gripped pile of printed sheets is placed over a vertically movable inclined stacking tray, and then released onto the stacking tray.

  • Patent number: 5580038
Abstract: A sheet post-treating apparatus includes a stapler disposed along a path to a discharge port. A pile of sheets to be stapled at two locations along a lateral edge is driven toward the discharge tray until the downstream stapling location is at the stapler. The movement of the pile of sheets is then reversed to bring the upstream stapling location to the stapler. The movement of the pile of sheets is then again reversed to discharge the now stapled pile.
