  • Patent number: 10443875
Abstract: A method for operating a thermal system, wherein a component of a facility or building has to be heated and/or cooled by the thermal system, includes selecting a control mode of the thermal system for bringing and/or maintaining the component to or at a definable temperature value or to or within a definable temperature value range. The control mode is dynamically selected from multiple different control modes under consideration of at least one boundary condition of the component and/or at least one environmental context parameter and under consideration of data regarding learnt/adapted thermal behavior of the component.

  • Patent number: 10389122
Abstract: A method for controlling energy supply to a client, wherein the client is connected to at least two energy utilities and/or energy grids for receiving energy for operating its energy systems, includes providing a demand request signal by at least one operation unit and/or by at least one of the at least two energy utilities and/or energy grids for requesting a demand modification with regard to at least one energy system of the client. A functional entity balances the energy supply to the client, so that a supply of energy from the at least two energy utilities or energy grids to the client is provided under consideration of the demand request signal or signals in a complementary way.

  • Publication number: 20190213470
Abstract: A method for compressing distributed deep learning gradient traffic in data parallel settings includes removing gradients of dropped neurons from gradient updates to obtain a compressed gradient update. Dropped neuron information and the compressed gradient update are transmitted to one or more receivers. Correct gradient updates are recovered by zero injection into the compressed gradient update based on the dropped neuron information.

  • Publication number: 20190190265
Abstract: A method for providing a demand-response (DR) signal assignment includes initializing reinforcement learning (RL) agents, each having an exploration scheme and being assigned to a consumer, with initial models about respective RL environments of the consumers. The RL agents send the models to an optimizer. The optimizer computes a DR signal assignment using the models. The RL agents send DR signals in accordance with the DR signal assignment to the consumers so as to aggregately achieve a load reduction by the consumers over a time window. The RL agents monitor the consumers over the time window, and update the models based on the monitoring.

  • Patent number: 10263804
Abstract: A method for operating one or more service systems by an analyzing computer including a memory and a processor includes receiving one or more received control requests (RCR) for controlling one or more resources of one or more service systems and anticipating one or more future control requests (ACR) based on one or more of the RCR, one or more prior stored control requests, and/or one or more already served control requests (SCR). The method further includes assessing an impact of selected control requests (CR) on resources of the one or more service systems, wherein the selected CR include one or more of the RCR and/or one or more of the ACR.
