Patent number: 12168920Abstract: A method of increasing hydrocarbon recovery from a wellbore penetrating a tight hydrocarbon formation is disclosed. The method involves inserting a hydro-jetting tool into the wellbore; jetting a thermally controlled fluid against the wall of the wellbore to create a cavity in the wall, using the hydro-jetting tool; injecting, using the hydro-jetting tool, a further amount of the thermally controlled fluid into the wellbore such that the pressure in the wellbore increases, wherein the increased pressure creates a fracture from the cavity, wherein injecting the further amount of the thermally controlled fluid cools the tight hydrocarbon formation surrounding the cavity by circulating the thermally controlled fluid within the cavity; withdrawing the hydro-jetting tool from the wellbore; and recovering the thermally controlled fluid and the hydrocarbons escaped from the fracture in the formation.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2022Date of Patent: December 17, 2024Assignee: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANYInventors: Misfer J. Patent number: 11867026Abstract: A system for cooling drilling fluid circulating in a wellbore drilled by a wellbore drilling system includes a drilling fluid conduit positioned at a surface location separate from a wellhead of the wellbore. Drilling fluid flowed from the wellbore and an outer jacket passes through the drilling fluid conduit. An inner surface of the outer jacket at least partially defines an interior volume within which the drilling fluid conduit is at least partially disposed. The interior volume is at least partially filled with liquid nitrogen, such that the drilling fluid passing through the drilling fluid conduit is cooled by heat exchange with the liquid nitrogen across a wall of the drilling fluid conduit prior to flowing back into the wellbore via a mud pump.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2022Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil CompanyInventors: Waheed Syed Arshad, Misfer J. Patent number: 11851989Abstract: A method for reducing breakdown pressure at a formation includes detecting a tight reservoir formation in a well and providing hydraulic fracturing equipment assembled together as a hydraulic fracturing system at a surface of the well. The hydraulic fracturing system includes a fluid source containing a base fluid and fluidly connected to a blender and a pump and manifold system fluidly connecting an outlet of the blender to a wellhead of the well. The method further includes connecting a cooling system to the hydraulic fracturing system, using the cooling system to cool the base fluid to a cooled base temperature upstream of the pump and manifold system, pumping the cooled base fluid down the well to the tight reservoir formation, and using the cooled base fluid to lower a temperature of the tight reservoir formation and reduce a breakdown pressure of the tight reservoir formation.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2021Date of Patent: December 26, 2023Assignee: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANYInventors: Misfer J. Almarri, Murtadha J. AlTammar, Khalid Mohammed Alruwaili

Patent number: 11619127Abstract: To monitor hydraulic fracturing operations, an acoustic insulation tool acoustically insulates a wellhead installed at a surface of a wellbore. Multiple acoustic sensors attached to the wellhead sense acoustic signals generated responsive to operation of hydraulic fracturing components. The components perform hydraulic fracturing operations within the wellbore. The acoustic insulation tool acoustically insulates the wellhead from acoustic signals generated by sources other than the hydraulic fracturing components. The multiple acoustic sensors transmit the sensed acoustic signals to a computer system. Using the received acoustic signals, the computer system monitors the hydraulic fracturing operations performed within the wellbore.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2021Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil CompanyInventors: Murtadha J.
