    Abstract: Metallic and ceramic coatings, particularly diffusion and metallurgically bonded coatings, such as are applied to aircraft, turbine, pump and valve components, may be effectively removed regardless of the three-dimensional configuration of the component and without damage to the underlying component by impinging the coating with a pressurized abrasive water jet while moving the abrasive water jet and/or the component relative to one another to fully expose the coating to the fluid stream.
