  • Patent number: 8330564
Abstract: An electrical switching device including a base terminal that extends substantially in an axial direction and has a base contact. The switching device also includes a movable terminal that extends substantially in the axial direction and has a mating contact. The movable and base terminals extend generally parallel to each other and are separated by a field spacing. The movable terminal is selectively movable to and from the base terminal to electrically connect the base and mating contacts at a contact interface. The switching device also includes a magnetic shield that is located between the movable and base terminals within the field spacing. The movable terminal experiences a separation force when current flows through the base and movable terminals in opposite directions. The magnetic shield is configured to reduce the separation force experienced by the movable terminal to facilitate maintaining the contact interface between the base and mating contacts.

  • Patent number: 5989074
Abstract: A disconnect module 10 includes printed circuit board subassemblies 12 mounted on a mounting member 70 for connecting shielded twisted pair cables 2A and 2B, and for disconnecting the cables for testing the integrity of the circuits. Each module 10 also includes a ground bus 74 on the mounting member 70 for connecting drain wires 6 in multiple cables 2A and 2B through traces on printed circuit board subassemblies 12 to a ground reference. Each printed circuit board subassembly 12 includes an input electrical connector 30 and an output electrical connector 40, each of which can connect corresponding wire pairs 4 in four single pair shielded or screened cables, such as T1 cables. The connectors 30, 40 are mounted on the front of a printed circuit board 14 for easy access, and each connector includes a pivoting stuffer 36, 46.

  • Patent number: 5649829
Abstract: A zone distribution adapter 2 for use as a breakout or tap with twisted pair cables provides a compact configuration that can be employed as a standalone component with a cover 22 enclosing a printed circuit board assembly, or the printed circuit board assembly can be mounted in standard distribution boxes or beneath a low profile access floor. The preferred embodiments of the zone adapter printed circuit board assembly includes a twenty-five pair vertical mount electrical connector 12 soldered to a printed circuit board 8 with four-pair electrical connectors, such as right angle modular jacks 16 or punchdown blocks 20 soldered on the sides of the twenty-five pair connector. Printed circuit board traces 10 connect corresponding positions in the twenty-five pair connector 12 and the four-pair connectors 16, 20. The cover 22 includes a central channel 26 between two raised side sections 28 with an opening 24 through which the mating portion 14 of the twenty-five pair connector extends.
