  • Patent number: 4413868
Abstract: A retractable basket carrier with chain and sprocket mechanism or travel bar mechanism. A mechanism is provided in the alcove of a desk or similar space in a cabinet to move a carrier from an inner hidden position to an extended position which accesses a wastepaper basket or similar item carried by or depending from the carrier. The mechanism may be installed on either side of the opening in the desk for left or right hand operation and is easily placed in position in the desk with a mounting bracket. An actuator mechanism is installed at the front of the desk for extending the carrier by swing arm movement and to provide a stop for the rearward movement of the carrier. Either a ball chain mechanism or a travel arm with hubs is used to move the carrier. A wastebasket or other item may be supported from the carrier by a universal joint and is moved between the extended and inward positions with only a slight amount of force upon the actuating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4371222
Abstract: A retractable scissors slave tong mechanism supported within a cabinet or the like. A mechanism is used to support or carry a wastebasket or similar item such that it is movable between an inner first position and an outer extended position which accesses the wastebasket or similar item for the user. An actuating mechanism is provided in coordination with a novel support mechanism such that very little force is required to extend the carrier even with a fully loaded wastebasket, container, or similar item. The actuating mechanism moves a single section of the slave tong thereby forcing all sections of the slave tong to actuate and extend the carrier or support in multiples of the distance of the actuating mechanism movement.

  • Patent number: 4111506
Abstract: A rail is tiltably mounted on a crank arm at one end of the rail or the rail is hung at both ends on pivotal link hangers. In the case of the crank arm, the rail extends from the attached end over center to the opposite side of the crank arm so that when the crank rises or lowers with the attached end of the rail, the other cantilevered end of the rail lowers or rises in the opposite direction to tilt the rail. In the case of the pivotal link hangers, the distance between the pivot points at the hangers is greater than the distance between their connection to the rail so that when one link extends downwardly to lower that end of the rail, the other link extends outwardly to raise the other end of the rail to cause the rail to tilt. A trolley rolls on the rail and supports a container, such as a wastebasket. The apparatus may be mounted on a desk and a wastebasket may be carried by the trolley. By tilting the rail the trolley rolls to the lower end of the rail and carries the wastebasket with it.
