  • Publication number: 20100240799
Abstract: An antimicrobial film-forming composition, an antimicrobial film, and a method of verifying the presence of an antimicrobial film. The film-forming composition can include no greater than 10 weight percent of polyvinyl alcohol, from 0.05 to 15 weight percent of polyhexamethylene biguanide, from 0.001 to 10 weight percent of a quaternary ammonium compound, and water or a water-based solvent. The film-forming composition can form a water-soluble, biocidal antimicrobial film that includes no greater than 98 weight percent of polyvinyl alcohol, and from 1 to 15 weight percent of each of polyhexamethylene biguanide and the quaternary ammonium compound. The method can include applying a film-forming composition comprising an indicator dye to a surface, drying the film-forming composition to form an antimicrobial film, and triggering the antimicrobial film to trigger the indicator dye to verify the presence of the film.

  • Publication number: 20100015457
Abstract: A water-based coating composition that is particularly suited as a floor coating. The composition is an aqueous two-part or two-component polyurethane system, having a water-dispersible polyisocyanate component and a hard cyclic diol component. The composition may be applied over a primer coating. The composition can be applied as a fairly thin coating, e.g., less than 127 micrometers (5 mils) thick, and provides a suitable coating with one coat. The composition, when coated onto a surface such as a floor, can be cured under ambient conditions. The resulting coating provides a durable coating with high gloss.

  • Patent number: 7517556
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a consumer scrubbing wipe article. The method comprises providing a nonwoven substrate having a dry basis weight of less than about 300 g/m2 where the nonwoven substrate defining first and second opposing surfaces, providing an abrasive resin-based matrix, printing the matrix onto the first surface of the nonwoven substrate, and coalescing the matrix to create a texture layer that provides a scrubbyness attribute. The printed matrix covers less than an entirety of the first surface, and the texture layer is created without crosslinking of the matrix resin. The texture layer extends at least 50 microns outwardly beyond the first surface upon coalescing.

  • Publication number: 20030228813
Abstract: A consumer scrubbing wipe article including a nonwoven substrate and a texture layer. The nonwoven substrate has a dry basis weight of less than about 300 g/m2, and thus promotes easy, comfortable handling by a user. The texture layer is a non-crosslinked, abrasive resin-based material that is printed onto at least one surface of the nonwoven substrate. In this regard, the texture layer covers less than an entirety of the substrate surface and extends at least 50 microns outwardly beyond the substrate surface to which it is printed. This characteristic ensures that the scrubbing wipe article has a distinct scrubbyness attribute.
