  • Patent number: 8305501
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an electronic apparatus includes an input module, a tuner, an amplifier and a preset module. The input module receives a television broadcast signal. The tuner selects a television broadcast signal of a target channel from television broadcast signals of channels receivable by way of the input module. The amplifier amplifies the television broadcast signal supplied to the tuner. The preset module determines whether each of the channels is receivable or unreceivable and to turn on or turn off of the amplifier, based on a first reception status information of the television broadcast signal of the reception channel acquired from the tuner in a state that the amplifier is on and a second reception status information of the television broadcast signal of the reception channel acquired from the tuner in a state that the amplifier is off.

  • Patent number: 7936827
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a receiving device and a control unit. The receiving device includes a plurality of processing unit containing an interface unit. The control unit includes an input source detection module, a transfer instruction detection module and a power-saving control module. The input source detection module detects an input source necessary for execution of a video reproduction program. The transfer instruction detection module detects a video data transfer instruction from the video reproduction program. When the video data transfer instruction is detected, the power-saving control module enables some of the processing units except the interface unit and sets the others of the processing units in power-saving mode. The enabled processing units receive a video signal from the input source detected by the input source detection module and convert the video signal into video data of given format.

  • Patent number: 7437577
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, an information processing apparatus comprises a receiving unit to receive video data, a driver and a control circuit. The driver is configured to detect a start and an end of a video reproduction program that reproduces the video data received by the receiving unit. In communication with the driver, the control circuit is configured to change a state of the receiving unit from a power-down state to an operative state when the start of the video reproduction program is detected, and to change the state of the receiving unit from the operative state to the power-down state when the end of the video reproduction program is detected.

  • Publication number: 20080002059
Abstract: According to one embodiment, there is provided a digital TV capture unit electrically connectable to a system bus of a computer. The unit includes a signal processing circuit which receives both a first output signal output from the first digital TV tuner module and a second output signal output from the second digital TV tuner module, and performs signal processing including descrambling, a bus interface circuit which performs control of transmitting a signal processed by the signal processing circuit, and an arbitration circuit which controls signal output operations of the first digital TV tuner module and the second digital TV tuner module to assure that the first output signal and the second output signal are alternately transmitted to the signal processing circuit in synchronism with a predetermined clock in units of packets.

  • Publication number: 20060023121
Abstract: A reception unit supports different types of TV broadcast systems (for example, NTSC-M/M, PAL-/I, PAL-B/G, SECAM-L/L?, PAL-D/D, etc.). The reception unit executes ghost reduction processing, three-dimensional Y/C separation processing, two-dimensional Y/C separation processing, one-dimensional Y/C separation processing, three-dimensional noise reduction processing, etc., for example, as video signal processing to put received video data (TV broadcast signal, video data from an external apparatus, etc.) into high image quality. The video signal processing to be executed is determined in response to the TV broadcast system type of the received video data. Accordingly, the video signal processing optimum for the TV broadcast system type of the received video data is executed.

  • Publication number: 20060020892
Abstract: A TV tuner capture unit not only can output video data compressed and coded by an MPEG2 encoder onto a PCI bus, but also can transmit uncompressed digital video data directly to a high quality video engine (HVE). The uncompressed digital video data is transmitted to the high quality video engine via a video data transmission path, and the PCI bus is not used. The high quality video engine corrects the image quality of the video data and then displays the video data on an LCD.
