  • Publication number: 20030041253
Abstract: A recording apparatus for an SD memory card that has a plurality of EPUBxxx.KEY files recorded thereon, each file having a plurality of Key&Rule Entry areas, and an SD_EPUB.MMG file being read from the recording medium prior to the writing of data. A bitmap in SD_EPUB.MMG shows for each EPUBxxx.KEY file whether the EPUBxxx.KEY file has at least one Key&Rule Entry area not in use, or whether all the Key&Rule Entry areas are in use. Based on the bitmap in the read SD_EPUB.MMG file, the recording apparatus opens EPUB#u.KEY having an unused Key&Rule Entry area and writes data into the unused Key&Rule Entry area in the file. If all the Key&Rule Entry areas in EPUB#u.KEY become in use as a result of the writing of the data, the recording apparatus updates the bitmap in SD_EPUB.MMG.

  • Patent number: 6484128
Abstract: A data processing system which provides increased reliability by properly managing a plurality of basic modules. System configuration data is a collection of information regarding basic modules constituting each target system. Compatibility data is compiled to keep statistics of past failures occurred in a target system, which maintains the following associated records: properties of failed basic modules, properties of their related modules, failure types, and failure counts. When a basic module is changed in a target system, the target system sends out a notification message. This message is received by a notification message parser and supplied to a system configuration manager via a hardware change manager. The system configuration manager first consults the system configuration data to identify the changed basic module and its related basic modules, and then retrieves information about compatibility of such basic modules by consulting the compatibility data.

  • Publication number: 20020126399
Abstract: A body of a lens frame, which is a lens barrel of the present invention, consists of an inner frame for holding a lens, an intermediate frame in which an adjusting screw is screwed, and an outer frame in which an adjusting screw is screwed. The frames are connected to one another by parallel springs. In the case of this lens frame, the inner frame is displaced in the direction of X-axis or a horizontal axis by screwing the adjusting screw thereinto in the direction of the horizontal axis and screwing another adjusting screw thereinto by the direction of a vertical axis. Thus, the inner frame is displaced in Y-direction through the intermediate frames. Consequently, the translation of the position of the optical axis of the lens is performed without inclination of the intermediate frame. Hence, the adjustment of the position of the optical axis is easily achieved. Moreover, this lens frame achieves a reduction in the cost of components thereof.

  • Patent number: 6424963
Abstract: The document retrieval unit retrieves documents in a set of retrieval object documents stored in the memory unit according to the entered retrieval condition such as retrieval word, sequences each document depending on the goodness of fit to the retrieval condition, and issues the retrieval result by shuffling the documents in the sequence by occurrence. The occurrence distribution calculating unit calculates the occurrence distribution of retrieval conditions from this sequenced retrieval results and the table of sets of sample documents stored in the memory unit. The retrieval history storage unit stores the entered retrieval condition, the sequenced retrieval result from the document retrieval unit, and the occurrence distribution of retrieval conditions calculated by the occurrence distribution calculating unit in the memory unit as retrieval history.

  • Publication number: 20020073105
Abstract: A package management information recording section 131 creates and records on a recording medium 120 package management information for managing packages recorded on the recording medium 120. A content file recording section 132 records on the recording medium 120 content files of content file groups included in packages, and also creates and records on the recording medium 120 content file group management information for managing these content file groups. A content/metadata correspondence information recording section 133 creates and records on the recording medium 120 information on correspondence between content files and metadata files within a package or correspondence between a package itself and metadata files. By this means, the correspondence between content files and metadata files can always be maintained correctly when they are recorded separately.

  • Publication number: 20020062320
Abstract: A package management information recording section 131 creates a directory for each package for content distributed in package units, and creates a package management file indicating the relationship between a directory name and package identifier. A content file recording section 132 creates a content file group management file indicating the relationship between a content file name and a reference name when that content is linked from other content. A link resolution information recording section 133 creates a link resolution file indicating the correspondence between a reference name indicating content included in another package and the package identifier of the other package. A link resolution section 142 of a content playback apparatus 140 specifies a link destination content file using these items of file management information. By this means, a link between contents can be maintained even when distributed content is recorded with a name different from the original content file name.

  • Patent number: 6298344
Abstract: A searching apparatus includes an index generation portion for generating an index to provide data of the number of documents including the key word and the number of appearances of the key word. Matching degrees between the key word and documents are calculated from the number of documents including the key word and the number of appearances of the key word. A portion of documents are arranged in order of the matching degree in a buffer which are outputted as the searching result. Lower rank documents regarding the matching degree are searched by comparing the lowest matching degree of the neighbour higher ranked document arranged in the buffer. At first time searching, data of the latest edition of the documents stored in a memory is detected and stored and is used to provide second time searching operation to eliminate inconsistency in the searching result between the editions at first and second time searching operations. The index is generated every field of each document.

  • Patent number: 6212517
Abstract: A system for providing keywords to facilitate a search in a text retrieval system. For each of texts constituting a text base, the system creates a word ID of each of words used in the text and a word occurrence count of a corresponding word. The word occurrence count indicates a number of occurrences of a word in each text. For each of words used in any of the texts constituting the text base, the system creates a total word occurrence count and a containing text count indicative of the number of texts containing the word. For each of words contained in the selected texts, a degree of importance is calculated by using the word occurrence count, the total word occurrence count and the containing text count. The words contained in the selected texts are sorted in order of the degree of importance. At least a part of the sorted words are displayed as related keywords.

  • Patent number: 6154737
Abstract: A document retrieval system for searching a document coinciding with a retrieval request the user inputs and further ranking the document in accordance with the degree of coincidence between the document and the retrieval request. In the document retrieval system, a word frequency calculating section finds out the number of documents where a word appears, a frequency of occurrence of the word in a document and obtains a weighting parameter for the word, and a frequency score calculating section obtains a frequency score on the basis of the output of the word frequency calculating section. In addition, a word cooccurrence relation checking section checks word cooccurrence relations of the retrieval request and the document, and a cooccurrence score calculating section calculates a cooccurrence score from the degree of coincidence therebetween. A document score calculating section calculates a document score on the basis of the frequency score and the cooccurrence score.

  • Patent number: 5777802
Abstract: A lens barrel with a cam mechanism, manufactured by molding plastic, comprising a plurality of cams having a plurality of parting lines, for lens driving, and a plurality of cam followers that are engaged with the plurality of cam faces of the respective cams. The plurality of parting lines are arranged on the plurality of cam followers in a manner that the positions of the parting lines relative to the respective cam followers are set to be different from each other. In the driving of lenses, no two cam followers are simultaneously positioned at their respective parting lines so that the lenses may be free from the effect of a step at each parting line. Thus, the deviation of the position of each lens is minimized.
