Abstract: A blower device includes a centrifugal fan rotor arranged to blow-out indrawn air in a direction orthogonal to an indrawing direction, and a motor arranged to rotate the centrifugal fan rotor. The centrithgal fan rotor has a motor cover in proximity to an external peripheral surface of the motor. Openings are provided at a lower part of the motor cover and a motor-cooling air passage is formed such that some of the air blown out from the centrifugal fan rotor is led to a motor-surrounding space formed between the centrifugal fan rotor and the motor and then is discharged through the openings.

A U-shaped heat exchanger 3 is provided so that it encloses a cross flow fan 2. A heat exchange unit 1A including the cross flow fan 2 and the heat exchanger 3 is arranged in an upper position and a machine room unit 1B including a compressor 5 is arranged in a lower position so that they are integrated into one body with a casing 7 having an identical cross section shape. A fan motor 4 and a shut-off valve 21 are provided at the upper end of the casing 7, by which an outdoor unit having an upright thin slim structure including a top joint structure capable of arranging piping in the upper position is provided.
