    Abstract: In a magnetic video tape recorder of the cassette type with a tape tension controller comprising a tension detection arm one end of which contacts with one surface of a magnetic tape drawn from the cassette in order to detect the change of the tension in the magnetic tape there is provided a pair of roller pins each is positioned at each side of the detection arm and contacts another surface of the magnetic tape. Since the magnetic tape is turned down with an acute angle at one end of the detecting area, the detecting arm can fully detect the change of the tension.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus having a single electromagnet for driving an idler mechanism for driving a take-up reel mount in a forward playback operation, a brake mechanism for a supply reel in a forward playback operation and a brake mechanism for the take-up reel mount. A high speed capstan-driven tape transport in both forward and reverse directions is attained by a simple construction.
