Abstract: A facsimile machine in conformity with an information services digital network (ISDN) basic interface having a single signal channel and two information channels, includes a communication circuit, which has a first device of exchanging transmission and reception image signals with an ISDN through one of the two information channels (B-channels), a second device of exchanging the transmission and reception image signals with the ISDN through the other information channel, a third device of separately establishing the two information channels through the single signal channel, and a fourth device of controlling the first and second devices to independently exchange the transmission and reception image signals with the ISDN in parallel.

Abstract: A terminal equipment and a method for controlling a subject terminal equipment coupled to an ISDN. First, it is discerned whether a message supplied from the ISDN is received. Next, each time the message is received, it is determined whether the message includes information on whether a different terminal to be communicated with by the subject terminal is a terminal coupled to either an ISDN or an analog network. Then, it is checked whether the different terminal is a terminal coupled to the ISDN or an analog network by referring to the information included in the message. When the different terminal is determined to be a terminal coupled to the ISDN, a group 4 facsimile transmission protocol is selected and executed. On the other hand, when the other different terminal is determined to be a terminal coupled to the analog network, a group 3 facsimile transmission protocol is selected and exectuted.

Abstract: A method for controlling a digital telephone set coupled to an integrated services digital network, includes the following procedure. It is determined whether a telephone number of a destination terminal which is given by sequentially inputting digits forming said destination telephone number, includes an area code. Then the procedure identifies a total number of digits forming a telephone number related to said area code by searching a table in which a total number of digits forming a telephone number related to each of different area codes is defined. Then a first message requesting for setting up a call to said destination terminal is output when a number of digits forming said destination telephone number which has been input up to now becomes equal to said total number of digits fomring a telephone number related to said area code included in said destination telephone number.
