  • Patent number: 8371972
Abstract: An engine unit includes a crank shaft that receives a driving force of an engine and a moving pulley that is movable in an axial direction. Keyholes are formed on an outer peripheral surface of the crank shaft. Axially extending guide holes are formed on a boss portion of the moving pulley in positions that correspond to the keyholes. Ends of keys are mounted to the keyholes. The guide holes receive therein bases of the keys to guide relative movements of the moving pulley and the crank shaft in an axial direction.

  • Patent number: 8215439
Abstract: In some preferred embodiments, the dry clutch is capable of suppressing transmission of engine rotational fluctuations from the engine to a rider via a vehicle body. In the dry clutch including a driving member (clutch shoe) 66 and a driven member (clutch drum) 62 configured to be engaged with each other and disengaged from each other in a non-lubricating atmosphere to transmit/intercept the motive power of the engine to a drive wheel, a solid lubricant 70 is interposed between the driving member 66 and the driven member 62.

  • Publication number: 20080312013
Abstract: [Problem to be Solved] To provide a belt continuously variable transmission for a straddle type vehicle that provides better shift response without the need of increasing the size of an electric motor. [Solution] A primary sheave 10 and a secondary sheave 11 are each composed of a fixed flange 10A, 11A and a movable flange 10B, 11B. The groove width of the primary sheave 10 is made to change by an electric motor moving the movable flange 10B of the primary sheave 10, and the movable flange 11B of the secondary sheave 11 is urged in the direction to narrow the groove width thereof by a spring 13. The respective movable flanges 10B, 11B of the primary sheave 10 and the secondary sheave 11 are further provided with torque cam assemblies 14, 15 for applying thrusts in the axial directions of the movable flanges 10B, 11B in response to differences in torque between the fixed flanges 10A, 11A and the movable flanges 10B, 11B.

  • Publication number: 20050037876
Abstract: To provide a continuously variable transmission and a control method thereof, allowing for control of the axial position of a movable sheave without a sensor for measuring the axial position of the movable sheave on a rotational shaft and for stable control with the movable sheave being held in position, without the increase in the size of mechanisms and power consumption. A continuously variable transmission in which, on a rotational shaft 1 thereof are mounted a fixed sheave 2 positioned in the axial direction and a movable sheave 3 slidable axially, so as to face each other, a motor is provided for driving the movable sheave, and a slide driving means 16 is provided for sliding the movable sheave 3 axially by the rotation of the motor, characterized in that: the motor is a step motor 6, and the step motor 6 and the slide drive means 16 are mounted coaxially with the rotational shaft 1.
