  • Patent number: 4825179
Abstract: A relay has a contact assembly and an electromagnet with a L-shaped pivotable armature rockable with its inside angle supported against a complementary yoke edge. A base mounting the electromagnet and the contact assembly is formed with a retainer rib which is opposed to the yoke edge so as to loosely engage the angled portion of the armature therebetween but to prevent the inside angle of the armature from departing beyond an allowable distance from the yoke edge. A movable spring included in the contact assembly is operatively connected to a first leg of the L-shaped armature so as to be driven thereby to close the contacts in response to the energization of the electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 4621246
Abstract: A polarized electromagnet relay with reduced width and height is disclosed to have on a base plate an electromagnet block, an armature block with a permanent magnet and at least one contact assembly. The armature block is cooperative with the electromagnet block and is driven in response to the energization thereof to reciprocate between two operating positions so as to actuate the contact assembly for contact switching. The electromagnet block includes a generally E-shaped yoke with a pair of opposed side legs and a center leg defining a core around which the excitation coil is wound. The contact assembly is mounted on the lateral side of the base plate to be received between the adjacent side leg and the base plate so as not to add an extra dimension to the width of the relay.

  • Patent number: 4616201
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay comprises an excitation coil for actuating relay contacts through the operation of a card coupled to an armature of the coil. The relay has at least one double-throw switch in which a pair of first and second movable contact members are driven to move with respect to a fixed or common contact member disposed therebetween for closing and opening contact operations in cooperation with the fixed contact. All these contact members are mounted on a contact base such that the fixed contact member is arranged between the first and second contact members. Also mounted on the contact base is at least one set of common, first, and second terminal lugs which are connected respectively to the fixed, first and second contact members to project downwardly from the base.

  • Patent number: 4560966
Abstract: A polarized electromagnet comprises a generally E-shaped yoke including a pair of outer legs and an intermediate leg therebetween, the three legs being interconnected by a base portion, and a coil wound about the intermediate leg. A generally U-shaped armature comprises a permanent magnet and two pole plates attached to both ends of the permanent magnet. The armature is so positioned that each pole plate extends between the intermediate leg and a respective one of the outer legs of the yoke. The armature may be fitted into a generally U-shaped resin member integrally molded with portions extending outwardly to opposite sides of the pole plates and slidable engaged in guide slots provided in the outer yoke legs. When used in an electromagnetic relay, these projecting portions form actuating members engaging movable contacts of the relay.

  • Patent number: 4532487
Abstract: A relay structure advantageous for compacting purpose is disclosed herein. The relay comprises a generally L-shaped yoke having an upright yoke leg and an upper yoke member extending substantially at a right angle thereto, the upright yoke leg being connected to one end of the core of an energizing coil which extends substantially in parallelism with said upper yoke member. The upper yoke member is formed with a center slot extending longitudinally thereof to be open at both longitudinal ends. A generally L-shaped armature is hingedly supported onto the free end of the upper yoke member with a tab extending across the air gap defined between the free end of the upper yoke member and the opposite end of the core. Extended from the upper end of the tab is an actuator arm which is received in said slot and on which overlies a spring blade carrying at its free end a movable contact.

  • Patent number: 4529952
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay comprises a bobbin carrying a coil and having a longitudinal central bore through which an armature extends. A permanent magnet is disposed between the central webs of two generally U-shaped yokes, the legs of the yokes having end portions cooperating with end sections of the armature which project from the central bore of the bobbin. The armature is pivotal about a fulcrum formed near its one end, whereas the other end of the armature carries an actuating card for driving a contact spring disposed at the side, and parallel to, the bobbin. The contact spring is fixed at one end to a first contact terminal and has its other end disposed between two fixed contacts connected to second and third contact terminals. The three contact terminals are disposed along a line generally extending parallel to the bobbin. The coil is connected to two or three coil terminals arranged at the other side of the bobbin along a line which also extends generally parallel to the bobbin.

  • Patent number: 4520333
Abstract: In an M.B.B. type relay, a contact spring comprises a pair of flat spring parts integral at the base of the spring and separate at their free ends, each of which cooperates with a fixed contact. An actuating card drives both spring parts in the same direction and has a stepped portion so dimensioned that a first contact formed by one of the spring parts with one of the fixed contacts is closed before the second contact formed by the other spring part with the other fixed contact is opened.

  • Patent number: 4514711
Abstract: An AC current electromagnetic relay is disclosed herein. The relay comprises a U-shaped armature with arms connected by a web and a generally E-shaped yoke with an elongated center leg and shortened side legs extending from a common base, the elongated center leg serving as a core around which a coil and a shading ring are disposed. The U-shaped armature is placed on the yoke with the free end edges of the arms being pivotally supported on the respective side legs of the yoke, so that upon the energization of the coil the armature is pulled toward the yoke and abuts against the respective free end portions of the side legs and the center leg, such free end portions being cooperative to define apexes of a triangle. Thus, a three-point contact can be attained between the armature and the yoke.

  • Patent number: 4498065
Abstract: An auto-holding electromagnetic relay is described comprising a main yoke having perpendicular and horizontal parts at right angles to each other. An exciter coil is mounted on the inner surface of the perpendicular part. On the outer surface of the horizontal part is mounted a permanent magnet on the upper surface of which is mounted an auxiliary yoke, one end of which is adapted to pivotably mount the armature. The main yoke has a main yoke projection extending from its perpendicular part which includes a horizontal projection part extending above and in the same direction as the horizontal part of the main yoke. The armature has an armature projection extending over the horizontal part of the main yoke projection and is capable, on pivoting of the armature, of making contact with it.

  • Patent number: 3950718
Abstract: An electromagnetic device made of flat components, which requires no resetting spring for the armature which is high in efficiency and small in size. The device comprises first and second yokes in contact respectively with magnetic pole surfaces of a permanent magnet and presenting pole faces opposed to each other. A pivoted armature, swingable between the pole faces on first and second yokes, by reason of the permanent magnetism, normally engages the pole face on the second yoke. A coil is wound around the armature, with current in the coil serving to overcome the permanent magnetism so that the armature moves to the opposite position against the pole face on the yoke. The device can be of latch type or single stable type by making the armature or either one of the yokes of a semihard magnetic material which is low in coercive force and high in residual magnetic flux density.
