  • Patent number: 5300179
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing a magnetic disk wherein a center core having an adhesive substance previously applied thereto is adhered to a magnetic sheet. The apparatus includes a holder having a center core retaining member extending therefrom for receiving and retaining the center core, the holder being rotatable such that the retaining member rotates about an orbital path; a core feed station, disposed along the orbital path, to which the center core having the adhesive applied thereto is fed, the center core being received by the retaining member at the core feed station; an adhering station disposed along the orbital path at a position downstream of the core feed station for adhering the center core to the sheet; and an annular housing substantially surrounding the orbital path an through which hot air is circulated so as to partially dry the adhesive applied to the center core.

  • Patent number: 4932600
Abstract: A method for winding a magnetic tape in which, at the position where the magnetic tape is being wound onto a flanged tape winding body, a magnetic field is applied to the magnetic tape in the vicinity of the tape winding body to urge the magnetic tape in a direction of the width of the tape, while simultaneously the tape is guided in such a manner that a relative position in the direction of the width of the tape between a corner, defined by an inner surface of one flange of said tape winding body toward which the magnetic tape is attracted by the magnetic field and a core portion of the tape winding body, and one lateral edge of the magnetic tape facing said inner surface of said flange ranges in the vicinity of the outer periphery of said flange varies from a position where there is a space of 0.5 mm between the corner and the one lateral edge to a sliding contact position where the two overlap each other in an amount of 0.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 4909455
Abstract: A tape winding device in which magnetic tape is wound onto a reel. One or more magnets exert a magnetic force on the wound tape in a direction along the thickness of the tape, that is, along a diameter of the reel, in order to neatly wind the tape. The magnets may be movable radially to maximize the magnetic force or be moved axially to control the axial position of the tape independently of the reel flanges.

  • Patent number: 4846420
Abstract: A method and apparatus for loading a magnetic tape into a cassette providing an improved tape winding appearance and improved total tape loading time. During winding, the pressure in the region surrounding the cassette into which the tape is being wound is reduced, while simultaneously a magnetic field is applied to the tape, at least in the vicinity of the tape winding body onto which the tape is being wound. Decompression is started substantially at the same time or slightly after the start of the tape winding operation, and the region is similarly returned to atmospheric pressure as the tape winding operation is being completed.
