  • Patent number: 6996096
Abstract: Communication apparatus having first communication device conformed to a first communication standard and second communication device conformed to a second communication standard different from the first communication standard. A control unit is coupled to the first and second communication device. The first communication device is capable of detecting whether or not another apparatus is disconnected from the first communication device. The control unit is capable of setting the second communication device in an active state if the first communication device detects that another apparatus is disconnected from the first communication device when the second communication device is in an inactive state. The second communication device is capable of being used to communicate with another apparatus when the second communication device is set in an active state, and is not capable of being used to communicate with another apparatus when the second communication device is set in an inactive state.

  • Patent number: 6895003
Abstract: A communication system, in which data transmission is interrupted for a bus reset, includes a source and a destination with a receiving buffer. The source is adapted to transmit a segment of data to the destination using address information corresponding to a part of the receiving buffer of the destination. Transmission of the data is interrupted if a process of resetting a bus between the source and the destination occurs. After the process of resetting the bus ends, the transmission of the data resumes without retransmitting data determined by the source to be already stored in the receiving buffer.

  • Patent number: 6879348
Abstract: A method and apparatus for remotely controlling adjusting functions of an image capturing apparatus. The functions include contrast, gamma, sharpness, aperture, and contrast. A control apparatus transmits to the image capture apparatus a first command requesting a current function value of an adjusting function of the image capture apparatus and a second command requesting a remotely controllable range of the adjusting function. The control apparatus detects the current function value of the adjusting function from a response to the first command and a remotely controllable range of the adjusting function from a response to the second command. The control apparatus then displays the current function value and the remotely controllable range of the adjusting function on a display unit of the control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6804250
Abstract: Provided is a communication system for logically connecting a source node and one or more destination nodes, and for controlling data communication between the individual nodes by employing a connection ID that is used to identity the logical connection relationship. The communication system may comprise a source node adapted to transmit data packets, a destination node adapted to receive the data packets transmitted from the source node, and a controller adapted to manage a logical connection between the source node and the destination node, the destination node being adapted to abort communication between the source node and the destination node if the destination node received an abort packet transmitted from the controller, and the destination node being adapted to disconnect the logical connection after the communication is aborted by the abort packet. The source node itself, and methods of using the system and that node, are also individual aspects of what is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6690648
Abstract: There is disclosed a communication system and communication protocol in which a source node and one or more destination nodes are logically connected, and a connection ID for identifying the logical connection relationship is used to control data communication between the nodes. There is also disclosed an efficient communication system and communication protocol in which an optimum time interval between a time to transmit an i-th (i being an optional integer) data and a time to transmit an (i+1)-th data can be set. There is further disclosed a communication system and communication protocol in which when the i-th data is not normally received, retry is inhibited only for a predetermined time to prevent the retry from unnecessarily occurring between a destination node slow in receiving process and a source node fast in transmitting process.

Abstract: Provided are a communication system and a communication protocol for logically connecting a source node and one or more destination nodes, and for controlling data communication between the individual nodes by employing a connection ID that is used to identity the logical connection relationship. Further, provided are a communication system and a communication protocol for correlating a connection ID with an offset address that designates in common the memory spaces included in one or more destination nodes, and for simplifying the designation of the offset address and the identification of the connection ID for data that are received. Furthermore, provided are a communication system and a communication protocol for inhibiting an increase in a delay time that occurs before data communication is initiated between a source node and a plurality of destination nodes.

  • Publication number: 20030179719
Abstract: The source transmits a packet with a predetermined transfer rate to each destination and recognizes the maximum transfer rate to each destination according to the presence or absence of response to such packet. After the maximum transfer rate is recognized, the source generates plural packets from the information data and transfers these packets in succession at the maximum transfer rate. Thus the maximum transfer rate available between two or more electronic devices can be easily detected without complicated analysis.

  • Patent number: 6421498
Abstract: Apparatus and method for cross-fading moving image signals include structure and steps for temporarily storing moving image signals in a memory for a predetermined period of time. Moving image signals read out from the memory and newly-input moving image signals are continuously combined for an operation time equal to or greater than the predetermined period of time. Thus, it is possible to obtain combined signals such that the moving image signals overlap each other in a relatively simple arrangement without using a special magnetic head.
