  • Patent number: 8102138
Abstract: A motor control apparatus includes a steering column having inserted therein a steering shaft to which steering torque is transmitted, a reduction gear box coupled to the steering shaft, and an electric motor that transmits a steering assisting force to the steering shaft via a reduction mechanism in the reduction gear box. The electric motor and its control unit including a control board mounted with a control circuit, are provided side by side in the reduction gear box. A connection terminal of the electric motor is electrically connected to the control unit directly. This minimizes a connection distance between the control unit and the electric motor.

  • Publication number: 20090295325
Abstract: To provide an electric power steering apparatus in which it is possible to minimize a connection distance between a control unit and an electric motor and surely prevent electric noise from mixing between the control unit and the electric motor as well as to minimize electric resistance and minimize an electric loss by directly connecting the control unit and connection terminals of the electric motor and a torque sensor. A motor control apparatus includes a steering column 3 having inserted therein a steering shaft 2 to which steering torque is transmitted, a reduction gear box 4 coupled to the steering shaft 2, and an electric motor 5 that transmits a steering assisting force to the steering shaft 2 via a reduction mechanism in the reduction gear box 4.

  • Publication number: 20080106086
Abstract: A tilt-type steering apparatus includes a steering column, a swivel support bracket which swivelably supports the steering column, and a fixing bracket which supports an intermediate portion of the steering column. A heightwise position of the intermediate portion is adjustable. The swivel support bracket includes a coupling plate portion formed with an opening at a center thereof, a support plate portion extending forwardly, and a bent portion which continuously connects an upper end of the coupling plate portion and the support plate portion. The coupling plate portion includes a low-rigidity portion at an intermediate portion in a vertical direction thereof. Bending rigidity of the low-rigidity portion is lower than that of the other portion of the coupling plate portion with respect to a force attempting to relatively displace an upper portion and a lower portion of the coupling plate portion in a front-and-rear direction.

  • Publication number: 20070068311
Abstract: There is provided a steering apparatus having a vehicle-body-mounted bracket mountable in a vehicle body, a steering shaft to which a steering wheel is attached, a column which is supported by the vehicle-body-mounted bracket so that a tilt position thereof is adjustable, rotatably supports the steering shaft and a clamp unit that clamps the column to the vehicle-body-mounted bracket through a tilt friction plate at a desired tilt position and a connection member connecting the tilt friction plate with the vehicle-body-mounted bracket. When an impact force, whose magnitude is equal to or more than a predetermined value, acts at a collision, connection of the tilt friction plate to the vehicle-body-mounted bracket is canceled, so that the column moves together with the tilt friction plate in a tilt direction relative to the vehicle-body-mounted bracket.
