  • Publication number: 20050214374
Abstract: The artificial extracellular matrix of the present invention comprises heat stable fish collagen produced from fish collagen with a heat denaturation temperature lower than 37° C. by improving its heat stability. The artificial extracellular matrix of the invention has an adequate stability in living bodies and a function to activate tissue repair at a high level and requires no addition of heat denatured collagen. In addition, the artificial extracellular matrix is unlikely to contain pathogenic organisms because it uses collagen originated from fish.

  • Publication number: 20030162744
Abstract: A novel chondroitin sulfate which can be produced more economically in a large amount and is expected as being useful for various purposes and processes for producing the same. Namely, a novel chondroitin sulfate which has an intermediate structure between the conventionally known whale-origin chondroitin sulfate and shark-origin chondroitin sulfate and is expected as useful for various purposes in the fields of drugs, cosmetics, food additives, etc. A process for producing the above-described chondroitin sulfate comprises grinding salmon nasal cartilage at a low temperature, defatting the ground matter, then treating it with an alkali and pronase, centrifuging the thus obtained liquid digested matter and then precipitating it from ethanol; and another process wherein the precipitate thus obtained is further treated with a cation exchange resin.

  • Patent number: 5698228
Abstract: There is provided a skin substitute that can suitably be used for covering the surface of a damaged skin area which is typically a wound produced by a traumatic local loss of the skin of the human body as a result of a burn or some other cause of damage. It is a skin substitute of a laminate comprising a squid chitin sheet and a fish skin collagen coat layer, which may be a salmon skin collagen coat layer. Such a skin substitute effectively exploits the suppleness and the effect of proving an environment for encouraging the production of lysozyme and defending the wound of squid chitin and, at the same time, compensate the disadvantage of poor adhesion of fibroblast cells that operate for curing the wound.

  • Patent number: 4786782
Abstract: An instantaneous water heater with enhanced temperature control and less variation in output water temperature has an output hot water pipe extending into a heating tank through the top thereof and surrounded by a coiled sheath electric heater for heating the water in the tank, the output pipe extending to the tank bottom and provided with an inlet thereat. An inlet pipe for water to be heated extends into the bottom of the tank and is throttled to provide an accelerated flow of incoming water away from the heater and outlet pipe toward an overheat prevention thermostat mounted externally on the top of the tank and connected to the heater. An output hot water temperature sensor located within the output water pipe adjacent the inlet thereof cooperates with a control unit of regulating operation of the heater to maintain the hot water output temperature at a preset level.

  • Patent number: 4559651
Abstract: A compact and inexpensive hot-water washing apparatus for personal hygiene which is used for washing the anus or the like after depositing stool in a toilet. By the rotation of an operation shaft 41, the start switch 42 of a pump 27, a flow control valve 30 and an operating valve 35 interlock. The control of the flow rate of the hot water to be supplied to a nozzle 4 for washing the anus or the like and the use of an inexpensive non-self priming pump are enabled by providing a water passage through which the water sucked in from a low level cistern 6 is discharged into a hot-water tank 25 through the operating valve 35 by the pump 27, and a water passage for returning the hot water or water in the hot-water tank 25 through the flow control valve 30 to the suction port 34 of the pump 27. The action of a heat equalizing plate 52 prolongs the duration of hot water jetting of an optimum temperature.
