  • Publication number: 20030014965
Abstract: The occurrence of cavitation is reduced in a rotary pump while the pump performance is maintained. A low-temperature source present in the pump system is utilized, and heat exchange with the fluid flowing to the pump is performed with this low-temperature source, thereby lowering the temperature of the fluid flowing into the pump and lowering the saturated vapor pressure of this fluid, which increases the allowable margin for a decrease in the pressure of the fluid and reduces the occurrence of cavitation. In the case of a liquid rocket engine, a coolant or another propellant B whose temperature is lower than that of the primary propellant A can be employed as this low-temperature source. The propellant B is passed through a heat exchanger 2 by a pump 4, which results in heat exchange with the propellant A from a tank 3, and lowers the fluid temperature. Since the fluid velocity of the propellant A is low at the time of this inflow, there is only slight pressure loss inside the heat exchanger 2.

  • Publication number: 20020139857
Abstract: A still image of a moving object is restored from portions including the object in an image by using a movement distance of the object during an exposure time and the difference value between output values of adjacent pixels, the movement distance being calculated as a number of pixels. Therefore, especially in cases where a moving bar code is imaged, even if the image of the bar code is blurred as a result of the movement of the bar code during imaging, a still image of the bar code in which the outlines of the black portions and white portions of the bar code are clear can be obtained. Accordingly, bar code information can be read out from the imaged bar code.

  • Patent number: 6450405
Abstract: A differentiation signal DF differentiated by a differentiation unit is inputted to a slice level generation unit and to comparators. A first peak-hold circuit and a voltage division circuit generate a slice level having a slice ratio SLR that is constant to a peak value VDF of the differentiation signal DF. A second peak-hold circuit generates a slice level the slice ratio SLR of which changes in accordance with the peak value VDF. The slice level generation unit outputs their synthetic slice level SLL, which is compared by the comparators with the level of the differentiation signal DF, outputting thereby binarized signals W-GATE and B-GATE. When the level of the differentiation signal DF is high, the slice level SLL approaches the peak value VDF. Therefore, noise components contained in the differentiation signal DF cannot exceed the slice level SLL. When the level of the differentiation signal DF is low, the slice level SLL has a constant ratio to the peak value VDF.

  • Publication number: 20020056752
Abstract: A POS system comprises a host computer providing a centralized control over a plurality of scanners, and a printer for printing a batch setting bar code or the like. A CPU of the scanner reads the changes in the setting from its own memory when it receives a first transmission request command and then transmits the data to the host computer as a first batch setting data. From this first batch setting data, a first batch setting bar code is generated. When this first batch setting bar code is read using the reader of the scanner whose setting has not been changed, the setting in the memory of this scanner is changed to the setting represented by the first batch setting data. Thus, setting in a plurality of scanners can speedily and accurately be changed.

  • Patent number: 6357660
Abstract: A bar code reading apparatus including a reader for reading a bar code expressing a plurality of characters, and a CPU for decoding the characters according to a result of reading by the reader. A ratio between a character length Cy of an already decoded character E2 and a length Cz of a character E7 to be decoded is calculated. When this ratio is greater than a threshold value, the black bar width B1 and black bar width B2 are corrected according to a reference black bar width X. The CPU decodes the character E7 to be decoded according to the corrected black bar width B1 and black bar width B3.

  • Patent number: 6321987
Abstract: A demodulated data storage buffer is stored with bar width data sets obtained by scanning a coupon code with a scan optical system. A CPU first executes a demodulating process on these bar width data sets in accordance with a demodulation algorithm in a WPC code system. If an end guard bar (RGB) of the WPC code is contained in the demodulated data by the demodulating process, the demodulating process is executed on the same bar width data sets in accordance with a demodulation algorithm in a CODE 128 code system.

  • Patent number: 6283370
Abstract: Demodulated data B containing the whole of a right block and a part of a left block is obtained after demodulated data A containing a start guard bar and based on a division reading process has been at first obtained. When demodulated data C containing an end guard bar and numerical data of three characters is thereafter obtained, a CPU aligns the demodulated data C with modulus 10-OK data obtained by synthesizing the demodulated data A with the demodulated data B on the basis of the end guard bar, and compares tenth through twelfth characters (of the numerical data) of both of data with each other. As a result of this comparison, if the tenth through twelfth characters (of the numerical data) of both of data are coincident with each other, the CPU increments an identical character counter.

  • Publication number: 20010006192
Abstract: A bar code data detecting section of a bar code reader scans a bar code twice or more and detects multiple pieces of bar code data, and a decoder decodes the bar code data, Then, a first judging section detects the overlapping part where first decoded data of the decoded in a first scanning trace and second decoded data in a second scanning trace overlap and judges whether or not the overlapping part is composed of a predetermined number of characters. If the overlapping part is composed of the predetermined number of characters, a second judging section judges whether or not the data in the overlapping part of the first decoded data is identical with that of the second decoded data. If the characters are the same, a fourth judging section judges whether or not the character just before the overlapping part of the first decoded data, the character just after the overlapping part of the second decoded data, and the characters constituting the overlapping part are all the same.

  • Patent number: 6247646
Abstract: A bar code reader for reading a bar code 30 composed of a plurality of white bars and a plurality of black bars, includes a generating unit 8 for generating bar width values respectively showing a width of the read bars, a judging unit 12 for judging based on the bar width values whether or not the read bar code satisfies a predetermined standard condition, and a converting unit 12 for converting the read bars into a plurality of bars in which a black-and-white-inverted bar is interposed between the conversion-target color bars. If the judging unit judges that the bar code does not satisfy the predetermined standard condition, the converting unit converts any one of the white and black bars constituting the bar code, and thereafter the judging unit makes a re-judgement. The bar code reader is capable of demodulating the bar code which has been abnormally read by presuming and compensating the bars read apparently as a single bar to a plurality of bars.

  • Patent number: 6222178
Abstract: A proximity sensor receives light beams reflected from a goods. A proximity sensor control unit determines that the goods exists when a light quantity of the reflected light received by the proximity sensor exceeds a determination threshold value. The determination threshold value increases as elapsed time since the bar code was read last time becomes longer, and, as a result, a detection sensitivity decreases. A CPU restores a duty of irradiation of the laser beam back to 100% and resumes rotations of a motor for driving an operation optical system when the proximity sensor control unit determines that the goods exists.

  • Patent number: 6206286
Abstract: A double-reading preventive control processing unit, when demodulated data corresponding to a whole bar code is obtained in an M10-OK buffer, notifies a reading-OK processing unit of this demodulated data on condition that a double-reading preventive timer is not actuated, stores a single-reading multi-stage buffer with this demodulated data, and actuates the double-reading preventive timer. The single-reading multi-stage buffer is capable of storing plural demodulated data in sequence from the latest one, of which the reading-OK processing unit has been notified. When demodulated data is newly obtained before the double-reading preventive timer makes a time-up, the double-reading preventive control unit checks whether or not the new demodulated data is identical with the demodulated data stored in the single-reading multi-stage buffer. When identical, this new piece of demodulated data is discarded.
