Patent number: 7484752Abstract: A vehicle airbag apparatus in which a frame and reinforcement members can be vibration-welded to an instrument panel with uniform strength and without distortion or discoloration of the instrument panel cover caused by the vibration welding. First weld ribs on a frame and second weld ribs on reinforcement members joined to the frame have a length which extends in the direction of vibration welding. The lengths of the first weld ribs and the second weld ribs extending in the vibration direction are set to be three times or more as long as an amplitude of the vibration welding. Passages for flowing a cooling fluid along the first weld ribs are provided on the joining surfaces of the joint flange, and furthermore, passages for flowing the cooling fluid along the second weld ribs may be provided on the joining surfaces of the reinforcements.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2006Date of Patent: February 3, 2009Assignee: Sanko Gosei Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mitsuo Yasuda, Ryoichi Katagishi, Yusuke Ishikuro, Hiroshi Yokouchi

Patent number: 7354061Abstract: An airbag apparatus for a vehicle includes an interior panel, an airbag; an inflater, a frame, and a pair of reinforcement members. When the airbag inflates, a fracture-opening section of the interior panel is ruptured and divided into two fracture-opening subsections, which are turned outward about hinge portions of the reinforcement members in a manner of a casement. Hinge motion restricting members are provided on the frame. When the fracture-opening subsections are turned, the hinge motion restricting members come into engagement with the hinge portions. This configuration eliminates interference between the fracture-opening subsections and the interior panel, which interference would otherwise occur when the fracture-opening subsections are opened in the manner of a casement.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2006Date of Patent: April 8, 2008Assignee: SANKO GOSEI Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mitsuo Yasuda, Ryoichi Katagishi, Yusuke Ishikuro

Publication number: 20060267314Abstract: An airbag cover includes a panel member composed of a substrate, a foam layer, and a surface layer. A fracture groove is formed on the reverse surface of the panel member so as to define in a fracture-opening section thereof two fracture-opening subsections openable in the manner of a casement. The fracture groove has a depth corresponding to the thickness of the substrate or a depth slightly greater than the thickness of the substrate. This configuration prevents generation of sink marks or depressions on the surface of the cover. The fracture groove is composed of a straight center fracture groove section, two V-shaped branch fracture groove sections extending from the opposite ends of the center fracture groove section, and side fracture groove sections extending from distal ends of the V-shaped branch fracture groove sections in opposite directions perpendicularly to the center fracture groove section.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2006Publication date: November 30, 2006Applicant: SANKO GOSEI Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mitsuo Yasuda, Ryoichi Katagishi, Yusuke Ishikuro
