  • Publication number: 20040005185
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a cartridge type applicator which can prevent the application liquid from flowing back from the applying portion into the cartridge and which is suitable for use with a high viscosity application liquid. This applicator includes an advancing mechanism or piston mechanism made up of a sealing plug disposed inside a cylindrical cartridge tank for constituting the rear end wall of the tank, and a rod member attached to the sealing plug for causing the sealing plug to move in the axial direction of the tank; and an actuator (actuating member) for causing the rod member to move or advance in the axial direction by rotation thereof, and is constructed such that, when the actuator is turned, the rod member causes the sealing plug to move in the axial direction so as to reduce the volume of the space inside the tank.

  • Patent number: 6611803
Abstract: A video retrieval apparatus includes a retrieval data generator that is configured to extract a characteristic pattern from a voice signal synchronous with a video signal to generate an index for video retrieval. The video retrieval apparatus also includes a retrieval processor that is configured to input a key word from a retriever and collate the key word with the index to retrieve a desired video. The retrieval data generator includes a multiplexor that is configured to multiplex video signals, voice signals and indexes to output in data stream format. The retrieval processor includes a demultiplexor that is configured to demultiplex the multiplexed data stream into the video signals, the voice signals and the indexes. A video reproduction apparatus may collate a visual pattern of the key word visual pattern data of the video signal at the time a person vocalizes a sound as the index for retrieval.

  • Publication number: 20020128836
Abstract: A method and apparatus for speech recognition of the present application has a process to collate, with an input utterance, an acoustic model corresponding to a hypothesis to be expressed by the connection of utterance segments, such as phonemes or syllables, and developed according to a length of an input utterance by an inter-word connection rule thereby obtaining a recognition score. Within a word of the hypothesis, the similar hypotheses high in utterance score within a predetermined threshold from the maximum value of the score are all held to a word end irrespectively of the number of hypotheses. Meanwhile, at a word end of the hypotheses, the hypotheses are narrowed to a predetermined number of upper ranking in the order of higher score.

  • Publication number: 20020091520
Abstract: A sentence or text based input utterance is prepared into word-string candidates each based on one to several words, starting from the beginning of a sentence. The candidates are displayed. A user is allowed to successively select and fix a candidate, to prepare a candidate for the following utterance on the basis of the selected candidate. The present invention is a text input method and apparatus adapted to repeat these processes. This eliminates the necessity to keep a memory space for search taking account of a number of combinations of word-string candidates, thus greatly reducing the storage capacity. Reduction is also possible in speech-recognition process amount. These makes possible apparatus size reduction. Furthermore, the user who is allowed to input one or more continuous utterances is free from troublesomeness as encountered in word-based input.

  • Patent number: 6032723
Abstract: Four air flow control doors of an automotive air conditioning device are synchronously controlled by a link mechanism. With a unique construction of the link mechanism, the following advantageous results are obtained. In a ventilation mode of a maximum cool condition, sufficient amount of cooled air can be blown into the vehicle cabin from a ventilation opening. In the ventilation mode of a half-hot condition, mixing of cooled air and warmed air is effectively carried out before being blown into the vehicle cabin. In a bi-level mode of the half-hot condition, the passengers in the vehicle cabin can enjoy a so-called "lower side warming and upper side cooling" air conditioning wherein the lower portion of the vehicle cabin is suitably warmed and the upper portion of the vehicle cabin is suitably cooled.
