  • Patent number: 9461296
Abstract: A secondary battery includes a battery casing accommodating an electricity-generating element group, and a battery cover having through-holes and sealing an opening in the battery casing. A first face at one end of each of positive and negative electrode connecting plates, which are each formed from a single plate of metal, is connected to a non-coated section of the electricity-generating element group. A second face at the other end of each of the positive and negative electrode connecting plates is a face onto which a busbar is welded, and the second face is exposed outward from one of the through-holes. Insulating base materials are interposed between THE positive and negative electrode connecting plates and an outer circumference of each through-hole, the insulating base materials and the battery cover are connected by brazing, and the insulating base materials and the positive and negative electrode connecting plates are connected by brazing.

  • Publication number: 20120003512
Abstract: A secondary battery includes a battery can 1 and a battery lid that seals an opening of the battery can 1. In a space defined by the battery can 1 and the battery lid 3, a power generation element group 6 formed by winding a positive plate and a negative plate are disposed. The battery can is formed in a shallow, bottomed rectangular shape, in which a length of one side perpendicular to a bottom of the shallow bottomed rectangle is smaller than lengths of other two sides. In the opposite ends of the power generation element group 6, uncoated sections 6A and 6B where no active material mix is coated are exposed. The power generation element group 6 is disposed so that the uncoated sections 6A and 6B are positioned directly above the through holes 1B. The connection members electrically and mechanically connected to the uncoated sections 6A and 6B are included to provide electrical continuity with an outside of the battery through the through holes 1B.

  • Publication number: 20110236750
Abstract: A secondary cell of an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a cell case of a rectangular cuboid shape having an opening; a cell lid configured to seal the opening in the cell case; an electrode assembly provided in a space defined by the cell case and the cell lid; and an insulation cover configured to electrically insulate between the cell case and the electrode assembly. The insulation cover comprises: a bottom face part facing the opening in the cell case and having four sides; side face parts formed along at least two opposite sides of the four sides of the bottom face part; and bend parts provided in such a manner that boundaries between the bottom face part and the side face parts bend as the electrode assembly is inserted into the cell case.

  • Publication number: 20110223455
Abstract: A lithium-ion secondary cell includes a winding electrode assembly. The exposed area of the positive-electrode metal current collector body is formed at one end in a winding axis direction of the winding electrode assembly, and the exposed area of the negative-electrode metal current collector body is formed at another end in the winding axis direction of the winding electrode assembly; and the negative-electrode metal current collector body is a copper foil rolled to a thickness between 6 ?m and 15 ?m in which one or more of additive elements of Zr, Ag, Au, Pt, Cr, Cd, Sn, Sb, and Bi are added to Cu having a purity of equal to or greater than 99.9%, and the negative-electrode active material mix layer has a cavity volume ratio of between 30% and 60%.

  • Publication number: 20050110460
Abstract: A battery module with an excellent cooling effect includes a battery unit 194 and a circuit unit 192. The battery unit 194 includes a casing main body 195 having an external frame 195a formed of a plate-like member in a rectangular shape and an internal member 197 supported inside the external frame 195a. A plurality of lithium single cells 202 to 208 are connected in series to form a longitudinal tandem cell 200. A plurality of the tandem cells 200 are disposed on either side of the internal member in parallel, and the entire tandem cells are connected in series by connecting metal fittings that are disposed on either side of the tandem cells 200. A cover 198 with ventilation opening is mounted on the casing main body 195. The circuit unit 192 is disposed on one end of the battery unit 194 and includes a control circuit that detects the voltage of each of the lithium single cells 202 to 208 and transmits the result of detection using a control means.

  • Patent number: 4443918
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of producing plate grids for a lead acid storage battery. The process of the invention comprises the step of striking hard particles against surfaces of grid material to form roughness on the surfaces of the plate grids. The hard particles may be struck against surfaces of a lead alloy strip which the plate grids are to be made of by expanding or punching. They may be struck against surfaces of a mesh-like lead alloy strip which is formed by expanding or punching a lead alloy strip. Otherwise, they may be struck against the surfaces of a lead alloy strip and then against the surfaces of the mesh-like lead alloy strip which is formed by expanding or punching the roughened lead alloy strip.
