  • Patent number: 9931718
Abstract: A pair of upper and lower pressure rollers 3, 4 is disposed so that their axes 15, 16 are tilted in a horizontal plane in respective directions opposite to each other with respect to a straight line perpendicular to a welding line of a joint portion J. The pressure rollers 3, 4 are positively driven by corresponding electric motors 63, 64 to thereby roll the joint portion. Thus, steps defined at the joint portion can be smoothed and a step gradient can be reduced to ensure a high degree of joint strength. Thus, it is possible to prevent a step portion from being interfolded into the base material of the meal plates 5, 6.

  • Patent number: 9278406
Abstract: Mash seam welding is performed to weld metal plates with thicknesses of 2 mm or more to stabilize the strength of a joint portion, reduce uneven parts of the joint portion, and ensure high strength and reliability of the joint portion. First, two metal plates, clamped with first and second clamping devices, are placed to overlap each other at their end portions. The overlapping portions (L) of the metal plates are pressed together with a pair of upper and lower electrode wheels while welding currents flow to continuously weld the overlapping portions (L) and join the metal plates. The pressing forces applied to the electrode wheels are controlled so that upper and lower welding forces acting upon the overlapping portions are equal to each other during the time when the overlapping portions are continuously welded.

  • Patent number: 8613225
Abstract: In an inspection device for inspecting front and back surfaces of a strip material rolled by a rolling machine, both ends of the strip material along a longitudinal direction of the strip material are claimed by two pairs of clamping devices and the front surface of the back surface of the strip material is pressed at an optional position between the two pairs of the clamping devices by at least one pressing device. Thus, after clamping the strip material, the two pairs of the clamping devices are not displaced along the longitudinal direction of the strip material. A function for applying tensile stress to the strip material and a function for clamping the strip material are individually and separately provided so that the inspection device can be simplified. By pressing the strip material at a point between the two pairs of the clamping devices, at least one of pressing devices can be down sized. It is superior in view of an economical reason.

  • Publication number: 20110120979
Abstract: A pair of upper and lower electrode wheels 1, 2 are disposed so that their axes 17, 18 are tilted in a horizontal plane in respective directions opposite to each other with respect to a straight line Y perpendicular to a welding line X defined on overlapping portions (L) of two metal plates 5, 6, and mash seam welding is performed while positively driving electric motors 61, 62. This can reduce the increased amount of thickness and step gradient of a joint portion to reduce a stress concentration factor and ensure joint strength. The metal plates are joined to each other such that a nugget N is not deviated from a joint interface. Therefore, it is possible to prevent respective ends of the metal plates at the overlapping portions L from biting into and scratching the corresponding electrode wheels 1, 2 and to prevent spattering during the welding.

  • Patent number: 6431951
Abstract: Upper and lower working rolls 2a, 2b are ground while moving respective grindstone devices 3a, 3b in reverse directions, whereby the region of grinding for the upper working roll 2a and that for the lower working roll 2b are maintained in symmetry with respect to the center of rolls, one on the operating side and the other on the driving side. By this arrangement, it is possible to equalize the coefficients of friction on the operating side and the driving side, and to prevent meandering of the rolling stock 6 as well as drawing (squeezing) or bad product shape due to the meandering from occurring. The timings to start grinding by the grindstone devices 3a, 3b are set to be substantially the same, and the velocities of movement of the grindstone devices 3a, 3b in the axial direction of the working rolls are set to be equal, whereby the difference in frictional coefficient due to grinding in the longitudinal direction of the rolls can stably be kept small.
