  • Patent number: 5642240
Abstract: An apparatus for recording video data by forming many tracks on a recording medium and/or for reproducing the video data from the tracks is provided with a memory which is arranged to have recording video data or reproduced video data supplied thereto. The apparatus detects the picture change-over portion of the video data obtained within the tracks and controls, in accordance with the detected position, an offset degree between the writing and reading addresses of the memory.

  • Patent number: 5528307
Abstract: An apparatus for correcting a time base of a video signal generates a clock which is phase-synchronized with a sync. signal of the video signal and has the same frequency. In a special reproducing mode, the apparatus switches an output level of a phase comparator, which phase-compares the sync. signal and the clock to a predetermined level, which is applied to a controlled oscillator and resets a frequency divider which frequency-divides the output of the controlled oscillator, in accordance with the sync. signal to produce the video signal which can be visually recognized even in the special reproducing mode. The apparatus samples and holds the output level of the phase comparator when the video signal drops out and resets the frequency divider which produces the clock by frequency-dividing the output of the controlled oscillator, when the dropout is recovered so that a video signal of high quality is produced immediately after the recovery of the dropout of the video signal.

  • Patent number: 5081550
Abstract: An apparatus for reproducing signals from a multiplicity of parallel tracks in a recording medium by means of n number of rotary heads, n being an integer not less than 3. A transportation device for transporting the recording medium is controlled on the basis of two kinds of signal: namely, a tracking control signal for leading one of the n number of rotary heads to one of m number of tracks contained in consecutive n number of tracks, m being an integer not less than 2; and a track shift signal which is generated in accordance with the result of a determination as to whether the n number of rotary heads are tracing expected tracks and which enable the tracks under tracing to be shifted to obtain a predetermined relationship between the sequence of the n number of rotary heads and the sequence of the tracks traced by these rotary heads.

  • Patent number: 5040060
Abstract: An image information transmission system for transmitting multi-pixel frames of image information, upon transmission, the data corresponding to a frame are divided into blocks each containing a predetermined number of pixel data, and discrimination data are prepared by discriminating whether each block belongs to a moving image area or a still image area of the frame. The data of a block of a moving image area are encoded using only the data of that block and according to a first encoding method, to form first encoded data. The data of a block of a still image area are encoded using the data of that block and those of other blocks, and according to a second encoding method, to form second encoded data. Transmission data are prepared from the encoded data and the discrimination data, and are sent to the transmission channel.

  • Patent number: 5023715
Abstract: An image information transmission method divides a frame of image data into a plurality of blocks each having a unit block constituted by a predetermined number of picture element (pixel) data. A plurality of distinguishable distribution data representing the distribution of levels of this pixel data are formed for each block from the pixel data. Position data representing the levels of the pixel data in terms of position in the distribution are also formed. A unit data block is formed for each block from the distribution and position data. The unit data blocks corresponding to successive blocks are serially transmitted in predetermined order, and the sequence of transmission of distribution data in each unit data block is changed in accordance with predetermined information.
