  • Patent number: 6098612
Abstract: A heating garment includes a heat source provided inside a garment, and a heat conducting path for transmitting air heated by the heat source from the heat source upwardly along a back of the garment. By so doing, not only can a portable, light-weight and compact combustor be provided, but the use of this combustor is effective to accomplish heating inside the garment while the supply of fuel and the amount of heat supplied can be controlled, to thereby provide a comfortable temperature environment inside the garment. It is also possible to obtain the heating garment ready comfortably and quick to warm.

  • Patent number: 5816793
Abstract: The invention is intended to suppress oscillatory combustion of a combustion apparatus. In the invention, acoustic closed ends are provided at an inlet side and an outlet side of the burner port unit, and the combustion apparatus is constituted so that the flame may be positioned between these closed ends, and a buffer chamber is provided at the inlet side. Thus, when the inlet side and outlet side of the burner port unit of the combustion apparatus are formed as acoustic closed ends, oscillatory combustion occurs easily. At this time, when the intake tube communicates at the upstream side of the inlet side closed end, and an exhaust tube communicates at the downstream side of the outlet side closed end, if the length of the intake tube and exhaust tube is changed, the air ratio and combustion amount for generating oscillatory combustion remain constant, and the oscillation frequency and oscillation pressure remain constant.

  • Patent number: 5139414
Abstract: A burner has first and second nozzles communicated with a combustion chamber and defined in a wall structure surrounding the combustion chamber. The first and second nozzles are opposed to each other and positioned adjacent an exit opening of a fuel supply passage that is defined in the wall structure. The burner also has first and second secondary air supply ports defined in the wall structure adjacent the exit of the combustion chamber in opposition to each other.

  • Patent number: 4909728
Abstract: A burner includes a number of flame ports each having a fuel supply passage and provided on a pair of opposite walls of a combustion chamber such that each of the walls and the fuel supply passages define a cooling passage. In the burner, a wide stable flame region is achieved at a high excess air ratio, the amount of NOx produced is reduced and backfire is prevented by cooling the fuel supply passages. Furthermore, a flame area per unit area of each flame port is increased such that the burner can effect high-load combustion.

  • Patent number: 4718926
Abstract: An exhaust gas filter for a diesel engine made by winding a composite sheet formed of a corrugated sheet and a flat sheet, the filter being provided with many narrow openings at the entrance or at the entrance and exit of the filter, wherein the area of the upstream side face is increased to deposit carbon soot on this face and on the entrance exhaust gas channels uniformly. By providing many grooves on the cell walls at the upstream direction, more carbon soot deposits in these grooves. Accordingly, the constitution permits reliable carbon soot ignition, complete carbon soot burn out with smaller quantities of carbon deposition as a whole.

  • Patent number: 4639208
Abstract: In a pulse combustion apparatus, a plurality of identical pulse burners are employed such that a total amount of fuel to be burned is divided into equal amounts which are assigned to respective pulse burners. Either cushion chambers or tail pipes of the pulse burners are arranged to communicate with each other via one or more communicating passages so that interaction occurs in connection with pressure in the exhaust systems of the plurality of pulse burners. The interaction between combustion chambers causes the timings of combustion in the plurality of pulse burners to be synchronized, thus suppressing the occurrence of uncomfortable beat. In some embodiments, a sound-insulating mechanism is employed in each cushion chamber so that propagation of combustion sound to downstream side is effectively suppressed while the heat exchanging coefficient is simultaneously increased.
