Abstract: A sensor senses the height of the vehicle body above the road surface by sensing the angular rotation of the stabilizer bar, and fluid is pumped into or drained out of hydraulic adjustors to maintain the height at a manually adjustable selected level.

Abstract: A piston slidably fitted in a fluid chamber is operatively connected to a level regulator valve located externally of a suspension unit and hydraulic fluid is fed and discharged into and from the fluid chamber by the opening of valves operated by a vehicle operator so that the piston is moved to operate the level regulator valve for shortening and lengthening the suspension unit independently of a load applied thereto.

Abstract: A self-levelling vehicle suspension system is provided with a vehicle body position control device which restrains a stabilizer bar of the suspension system from turning and twisting about its axis during acceleration or deceleration in which the vehicle body tends to pitch due to rearward or forward weight transfer that causes the front end of the body to lower or lift, the device comprising a suspension control unit connected to the stabilizer bar and arranged to operate in a hydromechanical, electromechanical or hydroelectrical fashion responsive to acceleration or deceleration of the vehicle.

Abstract: A control valve is disposed between automatic level control means of hydropneumatic shock absorbers and a pressurized hydraulic fluid source to normally provide fluid communication therebetween. The control valve blocks fluid communication therebetween in response to a difference between the relative displacement or distance between a sprung part of the vehicle and a first unsprung part thereof and the relative displacement or distance between the sprung part and a second unsprung part of the vehicle.

Abstract: A hydropneumatic suspension strut is provided with two pressure accumulators which each cooperate with the fluid chamber of the strut. A valve cuts off cooperation between the fluid chamber and one of the pressure accumulators in response to braking of the vehicle to increase suspension stiffness.

Abstract: Herein disclosed is a hydro-pneumatic self-levelling suspension unit for an automotive vehicle, serving not only as a shock-absorber responsive to jounces and rebounds of a vehicle body and a self-levelling mechanism capable of automatically adjusting the height of the vehicle body responsive to change in the load applied to the vehicle body but as a level selector mechanism which is manually operated to stepwise vary the height of the vehicle body. The level selector mechanism comprises means stepwise extensible in an axial direction of the suspension unit between a fully contracted position and a fully extended position and biased toward the fully contracted position. The extensible means is stepwise extended to one or more lengths between the fully contracted and extended positions by selective application of fluid pressure thereon.

Abstract: Valves impart a fluid lock on the vehicle body level adjustors when the sensed roll and/or pitch of the vehicle body exceeds a certain level to prevent delayed and erroneous compensation by the leveling system.
