  • Patent number: 6793359
Abstract: A transmission member is swingably connected respectively to a reflector and a nut member, about an axis substantially orthogonal to a tilting direction of the reflector and to an advancing and backward direction of the nut member. As a result, the transmission member, which forms a link of a link mechanism, converts the linear motion of the nut member into rotation motion and transmits the rotation motion to the reflector, and also adjusts a misalignment between the linear motion of the nut member and the rotation motion of the reflector. Accordingly, optical axis adjustment is carried out smoothly.

  • Patent number: 5842776
Abstract: A vehicle lamp device comprises a lighting chamber (14) defined by a housing (11) and a lens (12). A holding tube portion (11c) having a through hole (11b) is formed in a rear wall (11a) of the housing (11). An air pipe (15) is engaged with the holding tube portion (11c) through which the lighting chamber (14) is connected to the outside. An air hole (15c) is formed in the midway of the air pipe (15) in addition to an end opening (15a). A covering portion (11d) is formed as a holding portion in the rear wall (11a) for covering the air hole (15c) from above and for holding the air pipe (15).

  • Patent number: 5056916
Abstract: An optical axis adjusting system comprises at least one lighting unit such as a vehicle's head lamp unit, and at least one optical instrument. The lighting unit comprises a housing having a reflector, and a lens having first and second portions which are positioned so that the first and second portions intersect, respectively, imaginery first and second straight lines that are parallel to the optical axis of the lighting unit and symmetrical with respect to the optical axis. The optical instrument has a light projecting unit for projecting a light beam such as a laser beam to the reflector through the first portion of the lens, and a light receiving unit for receiving a reflected beam reflected from the reflector and transmitted through the second portion of the lens. The lighting unit has at least one adjusting screw by which the aim of the lighting unit is adjusted so that reflected beam is correctly received by the receiving unit.

  • Patent number: 4870544
Abstract: In an optical-axis adjusting apparatus for use with automotive lights, an adjusting member is provided to orientate the lamp unit by tilting the latter about the horizontal and vertical axes. The adjusting member includes an adjusting threaded rod screwed in an internally threaded member fixed to the body of motor vehicle and which can be moved forwardly and reversely. The shank of the adjusting threaded rod has formed a ball-shaped portion at a part thereof. The ball portion is received in spherical concavities of the holder and rotatably supported in the holder. The holder is elastically fitted in a holder support member from a direction substantially perpendicular to the forwardly and reversely moving direction of the threaded rod and prevented from coming off the holder by means of stoppers. Therefore, the adjusting member can be easily and securely installed to the lamp unit and permits a smooth optical-axis adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4774645
Abstract: A replaceable lamp bulb assembly comprises a reflector and a plug body in which a lamp bulb is secured and which is detachably mounted to the reflector. The plug body has a flange movable inside the inner circumferential surface of a socket formed on the back of the reflector. The flange has one end face thereof that is to be in contact with the outer circumferential edge of the opening formed in the apex of the reflector, and the other end face that is to be in contact with one surface of the wedge-shaped portion of the cleat. The other surface of the cleat, namely, the slanted surface thereof, is so formed as to act as wedge on the guide surface of guide member. When the plug body is fully inserted in the socket, the cleat is inserted from a direction substantially perpendicular to axial direction while the other surface of the flange is axially pressed by the wedge-shaped portions of the cleat, whereby the plug body is retained to the reflector.
