  • Patent number: 6753848
Abstract: The present invention provides a pointing device inputting a signal in an X-Y direction on the basis of a sliding operation which is easily mounted to an external substrate without using a connector. A case is constituted by an upper case made of a metal plate, and a lower case made of a resin. An internal substrate is arranged below one set of moving bodies linearly moving in the X-Y direction in correspondence with the sliding operation of the operating body, and the internal substrate is insert molded in a bottom plate portion of the lower case made of the resin. One end portion of a terminal member is brought into contact with the internal substrate and is insert molded in the bottom plate portion of the lower case together with the internal substrate. Another end portion of the terminal member is protruded out of the lower case so as to form a connection terminal with the external substrate.

  • Publication number: 20010009412
Abstract: To reduce a thickness of a pointing device for inputting a signal in X-Y directions by sliding operation. To reduce the number of parts. To make connection between a mounting substrate and the device by soldering or through a connector unnecessary. As shown in FIG. 4, in a case 20 fixed to the mounting substrate 10, a sliding-type operating body 30 and moving bodies 40A and 40B of a set for moving linearly in X-Y directions in the case 20 as the operating body 30 is slid are provided. Respective one side portions of the moving bodies 40A and 40B project sideways from the case 20 and lower faces of respective projecting portions 43A, 43B face a surface of the mounting substrate 10. By bringing contacts 50A, 50B mounted to the lower faces of the respective projecting portions 43A and 43B into contact with a resistor circuit formed on the surface of the mounting substrate 10, volume portions are formed at two side portions orthogonal to each other of the case 20.
