  • Patent number: 6958975
Abstract: In a transmission service for connecting a frame relay network to an ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) network, a congestion information setting system used in a connection apparatus capable of interfacing between the frame relay network and the ATM network, is arranged by: a congestion information extracting unit extracting congestion information from data of one network of either the frame relay network and the ATM network; a mode setting unit combining the extracted congestion information with congestion information of an output side in accordance with a setting condition; and a congestion information writing unit writing the combined congestion information into data of the other network of either the frame relay network and the ATM network in response to a mode set by the mode setting unit. Thus the congestion information can be transmitted between different networks.

  • Patent number: 6865240
Abstract: The frame synchronizing circuit establishes frame synchronization by detecting a sync pattern laid in an incoming frame. The frame synchronization circuit comprises a first frame synchronizing unit and a second frame synchronizing unit. The first and second synchronizing units synchronize with a first pattern, a second pattern at a first position and a second position, respectively. Thereafter, when the first position used for the synchronization by the first frame synchronizing unit is found to be in error, the first frame synchronizing unit synchronizes with the second pattern at the second position used by the second frame synchronization unit.

  • Publication number: 20030179712
Abstract: The quality and performance of the connectionless communications system are improved. When a BOM is received, the destination address DA of the L3-PDU stored in the payload of the BOM is retrieved, and the tag information is obtained from the DA (S11). The output message identifier MID is reserved (S12), and the tag information and output MID are assigned to the BOM (S13). Then, the tag information and output MID are written to the table. When a COM is received, the tag information and output MID are retrieved using the MID of the COM as a key, and the information is provided for the COM (S31 and S32). When an EOM is received, the tag information and output MID are retrieved using the MID of the EOM as a key, and the information is provided for the EOM (S41 and S42). Then, the output MID is released (S43).

  • Patent number: 6587885
Abstract: The invention provides a fixed length cell handling image communication method wherein moving picture data are compressed to data having a fixed transmission rate using a compression method for still pictures and then converted into fixed length cells so that image processing such as compression/decompression of the moving picture data can be performed at a high rate while keeping a high compression ratio and a high picture quality.

  • Patent number: 6282173
Abstract: A processing apparatus for measuring accumulated values of performance monitoring (PM) parameters concerning a reception signal received by a transmission device, which is capable of detecting upper layer failures in a more accurate, hardware-based way, without increasing the workload imposed on the system's firmware. PM parameters represent the statistics of events that meet prescribed criteria for defects and anomalies in the reception signal. The processing apparatus has a plurality of failure detection units to detect different kinds of failures in the reception signal and produce failure detection signals corresponding thereto. Those failure detection units include a first failure detection unit that detects a first kind of failure and a second failure detection unit that detects a second kind of failure. On the basis of the failure detection signals, a PM controller detects at least one kind of PM parameter, and a counter unit accumulates the detected PM parameter.
