  • Patent number: 5493319
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus for recording information by ejecting ink fluid on a recording medium includes a recording head, a cap, an ejection restoration mechanism, an atmospheric air opening mechanism and a heating mechanism. The recording head has an orifice and ejects ink fluid from the orifice. The cap covers up a face on which the orifice of the recording head is disposed. The ejection restoration mechanism performs procedures for keeping a state of ejection of ink fluid by the recording head to be good by discharging ink fluid into the cap. The atmospheric air opening mechanism makes an inside of the cap opened to an atmospheric air when the restoration operations are being performed by the ejection restoration mechanism. The heating mechanism heats the recording head at least before the restoration operation is performed by the ejection restoration mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5488398
Abstract: This specification discloses an ink jet recording apparatus in which the density of black can be emphasized as compared with that of the other colors, with time cost, hue and blur in the boundary between different colors being suppressed, and wherein when ink is impacted from a multihead to all picture elements in a predetermined area, discharge by a plurality of multinozzles is effected to an image datum at the same position and in the same scan with an amount of ink per discharge for which the area factor in the area is less than 100% and the amount of ink per discharge from a multihead for one color is made greater than that for the other colors.

  • Patent number: 5477246
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus for performing recording using a recording head for ejecting an ink from a plurality of ejection orifices, includes a print control unit for performing a print operation while switching a print mode between a thin multi-pass print mode for sequentially recording divided recording data in a plurality of number of times of relative scan operations of the recording head with respect to a single recording area, and a 1-pass print mode for recording all recording data in a single relative scan operation of the recording head, and an eject quantity control unit for controlling the eject quantity of the ink ejected form the recording head so that a total ink quantity on the recording area in the thin multi-pass print mode is larger than a total ink quantity in the 1-pass print mode.

  • Patent number: 5477248
Abstract: In an apparatus for recording color images making use of a plurality of inks of different colors (Y, M, C, K), the penetrability of at least one ink is caused to differ from that of the other inks. In particular, the penetrability of an ink higher in lightness is made higher than that of another ink lower in lightness. For example, inks are prepared in such a manner that their penetrability becomes higher in the order of K<M=C<Y, thereby permitting speedy recording of clear and sharp images free from formation of inadequate feathering at boundaries between inks of different colors.

  • Patent number: 5367325
Abstract: A recording apparatus having a recording head provided with plural ink discharging outlets for discharging ink includes a detector for detecting temperature distribution in the recording head relating to recording operation of the recording head; a calculator for processing temperature data; and a controller responsive to an output of the calculator. The controller provides a uniform temperature distribution in the recording head by controlling a recording speed of the recording head.

  • Patent number: 5359355
Abstract: A recording head having a plurality of recording elements can operate in a first recording mode for recording a desired image by performing a single scan operation on a predetermined region on a recording medium, and a second recording mode for recording a desired image by recording a thin image a plurality of number of times in a plurality of scan operations on the predetermined region. The scan speed in the second recording mode is set to be higher than that in the first recording mode. For example, when the scan speed in the second recording mode is N times that in the first recording mode, the driving operation of the plurality of recording elements is controlled to obtain a dot pattern in which the minimum dot distance in the scan direction in the second recording mode is N times or more that in the first recording mode. Image quality can be improved without decreasing the throughput.

  • Patent number: 5355158
Abstract: An ink jet apparatus includes an ink jet head having in energy generator which car, generate energy employed for discharging ink as a droplet from a discharge port, and a control unit for controlling the energy generated from the energy generator so as to remove ink droplets, which adhere to a discharge port surface, by spreading the meniscus of the ink projecting from the discharge port on the discharge port surface. The apparatus is therefore capable of removing floating ink mist particles which adhere to the ink jet head.
