  • Publication number: 20210264346
Abstract: A worksite safety system and method is disclosed. The system uses wearable sensors to collect biometric data from workers. The data are used to compute a worker's core body temperature on the basis of an individual profile associating historical biometric data with measured core body temperature. If the computed core body temperature crosses certain thresholds, alert actions are performed.

  • Publication number: 20190109558
Abstract: Disclosed are modular floating platforms configured to be joined together to form a cover over surfaces of natural and artificial bodies of water and other liquids, for reducing evaporation and other purposes. The floating platforms may be motorized and provided with remote control systems, so that the platforms may be assembled together on command to provide uniform coverage of the surface of the body of water. The floating platforms are optionally capable of solar and wind power collection. The platforms are useful for covering mining tailing storage ponds.

  • Publication number: 20150033738
Abstract: An energy-extracting mine ventilation system comprises: a ventilation unit for conditioning the intake air of a mine; a network of pipes installed in at least one cavity of the mine, the network of pipes comprising a geothermal fluid circulating therethrough wherein the network is in contact with a minefill material within the cavity and a rock mass; wherein the minefill material transfers energy between the rock mass of the at least one cavity and the thermal fluid; and a heat exchanger unit in fluid communication with the network of pipes and extracting the energy from the thermal fluid The heat exchanger unit is configured to transfer extracted energy directly or indirectly to the ventilation unit in order to condition the intake air of the mine, The extracted energy can be used in a variety of other applications, such as district heating, acid leaching, and water heating.

  • Patent number: 5983701
Abstract: A portable system for non-destructive evaluation of geological material structures comprises an impact device which impacts a spherical surfaced member against the surface of the structure. A vertical displacement transducer and a horizontal displacement transducer detect reflected signals from an interface of the structure, the signals being processed to give a indication of the depth of the interface from the surface of the interface and also provide an evaluation of the physical properties of the structure.
