Abstract: Methods of employing compositions containing 5-hydroxytryptamine-2 (5-HT.sub.2) receptor antagonists for the treatment of such venous conditions as varicose veins, venous insufficiency and wounds are disclosed.

Abstract: A pulsating release composition comprising natural microspheres, such as pollen grains or spores, into which are loaded a biologically active is subsequently releasable therefrom in a predetermined location in or on a plant or animal in a series (generally 3 or more) of pulses. In one preferred embodiment, the composition comprises a group of substantially similar loaded micropheres coated with multiple barrier layers alternating with multiple active substance layers in a concentric onion-like structure, the barrier layers being slowly soluble to delay release of active substance from the underlying layer thereof until after the pulse of active substance provided by the overlying layer has subsided.

Abstract: A food product, and especially a packaged meal, prepared from an aqueous composition comprising non-fat milk solids, preferably little or not fat, at least about 2 grams of dietary fiber material in an average serving amount of the food product, and lactase enzyme in an amount sufficient to hydrolyze at least about 75% of the lactose in the composition to glucose and galactose in the food product; and a method of preparing same.

Abstract: Orally ingestible compositions for reduction of blood cholesterol levels comprising cholestyramine and as deodorant material a water-soluble carbonhydrate syrup such as high fructose corn syrup or a liquid alcohol polyol humectant such as glycerine. The components are blended to form a deodorized powder which may be added to water to form a beverage or mixed with an additional carbohydrate material such as polydextrose to form a unitary orally ingestible product such as a wafer.

Abstract: For better control of pain, fever, inflammation and platelet aggregation in the human blood system, a tablet containing a relatively smaller amount of aspirin capable of rapid dissolution or disintegration in the oral, preferably sublingual, cavity permitting rapid absorption of the aspirin from the saliva into the blood system, and method of using such tablet.

Abstract: An improved non-dairy liquid food product is made by adding dietary fiber and calcium to a fruit juice or a drink. The dietary fiber may include soluble, insoluble dietary fiber or mixtrues there of. Any soluble, insoluble, organic or inorganic calcium salt may be employed.
