Publication number: 20230124818Abstract: A battery grid is disclosed. The battery grid includes a pattern of grid wires. The pattern includes a grid wire having a first segment with a first corrosion resistance and a second segment with a second corrosion resistance which is less than the first corrosion resistance. The second segment corrodes at a rate which is faster than the corrosion rate of the first segment so as to dynamically release internal stress and control grid growth of the battery grid during its service life. A battery includes said grid and a method of forming said grid are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2022Publication date: April 20, 2023Inventors: M. Publication number: 20220322725Abstract: The present application describes methods of reducing caking in and improving the flowability of a powdered material. The methods generally involve adding a naturally-derived additive to the powdered material that is capable of reducing caking within the powdered material, while also improving the flowability of the powdered material. For example, following treatment with the naturally-derived additive, the treated powdered materials generally demonstrate reduced overall caking and crust thickness. In some of the methods described herein, the naturally-derived additive belongs to the saponin class of chemicals. In other of the methods described herein, the naturally-derived additive is potassium cocoate. The present application also describes food additive formulations that include a saponin or potassium cocoate and demonstrate reduced caking and improved flowability of a granulated foodstuff.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2022Publication date: October 13, 2022Inventors: Siddique Ali Khateeb RAZACK, Mohamadkheir ALKHATEEB, Zach GOODING, John MacKINNON, Linda KRAGT, Elizabeth PIERONI

Patent number: 8617747Abstract: An electrode plate for a battery comprising a plurality of electrodes in a grid where the grid defines a plurality of spaces. A paste disposed in the spaces has a top surface and a bottom surface. The paste is narrowed in the space, defining a distance between the top surface of the paste and the bottom surface of the paste that is less than the thickness of the plate over the electrodes. A retention layer of porous fabric is impressed on the top and/or bottom surface of the paste. Electrolyte disposed in electric communication with the electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2009Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: Firefly Energy, Inc.Inventors: Kurtis C.
