  • Publication number: 20240131476
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to sustainable and green polylactic acid-based membranes embedded with self-assembled positively and negatively charged multiwalled carbon nanotube/graphene oxide nanohybrids for the removal of organic and inorganic nutrients from wastewater, and methods of synthesis of the same. A positively charged multi-walled carbon nanotube/graphene oxide (f-MWCNT/GO) nanohybrid-based mixed matrix membrane can comprise a self-assembled multi-walled carbon nanotube and graphene oxide (f-MWCNT/GO) nanohybrid, and a polylactic acid (PLA) membrane matrix. The f-MWCNT/GO nanohybrid is integrated into the PLA membrane matrix to form the positively charged mixed matrix membrane. A negatively charged multi-walled carbon nanotubes (f-GO/MWCNTs-COOH) nanohybrid-based mixed matrix membrane can comprise a positively charged Graphene Oxide and negatively charged multi-walled carbon nanotube-COOH (f-GO/MWCNTs-COOH) nanohybrid, and a polylactic acid (PLA) membrane matrix.

  • Publication number: 20240091710
Abstract: A distillation apparatus having a hot liquid block, a thermoelectric module (TEM), a condensation surface, a feed liquid chamber having a feed chamber inlet, a feed chamber outlet, and a membrane disposed on at least one side of the feed liquid chamber. One side of the membrane faces to the condensation surface. An air gap of 1 mm to 20 cm separates the condensation surface and the membrane. A permeate outlet in fluid communication with the air gap. A heating unit in fluid communication with the feed liquid chamber and the hot liquid block. A cooling unit in fluid communication with the permeate outlet. A multi-stage distillation apparatus with a plurality of distillation apparatuses. A process of distilling water, by feeding a liquid into the distillation apparatus through the hot block inlet and collecting distilled water from the permeate outlet.

  • Publication number: 20230233988
Abstract: Absorption, or gas absorption, is a unit operation used in the chemical industries to separate gases by washing or scrubbing a gas mixture with a suitable liquid. Gas absorption is usually carried out in vertical countercurrent columns The solvent is fed in at the top of the absorber, the gas mixture from the bottom. We developed the process to get high yield and high efficiency.

  • Patent number: 10202548
Abstract: The modification of sand with superhydrophobic silica/wax nanoparticles may provide for water storage, applicable, for example, in desert environments. In particular, highly thermal stable superhydrophobic coats for sand are made of nanoparticles composed of superhydrophobic silica capped with paraffin wax. Superhydrophobic sand modified by such nanoparticles addresses issues of water storage in desert environments, capitalizing on sand resource utilization. Superhydrophobic sand, as modified, has excellent water repellency and great water-holding capacity. The superhydrophobic sand modified with superhydrophobic silica/wax nanoparticles can be applied for the desert water storage for agriculture and planting.

  • Patent number: 8288983
Abstract: A system or method of verifying a new contact position of a multi-pole electro-mechanical switch having a plurality of contact positions is disclosed. The switch is caused to move to a new contact position. Power is provided to at least one light transmitter to cause the at least one light transmitter to transmit light toward a light reflective portion. A particular light detector among a plurality of light detectors that has received light from the light reflective portion is identified. The new contact position is verified based on the identification.
