  • Patent number: 8893796
Abstract: A wellbore valve assembly including a valve member which is moveable relative to the valve seat, the valve assembly being receivable in a wellbore tubing having a first end and a second end, the valve member being moveable between an open position relative to the valve seat, and a position in which the valve member is seated against the valve seat, the valve assembly including a valve member biasing device for biasing the valve member towards the open position, the valve member being operable to close in the event of a force which exceeds a predetermined value being applied in either direction relative to the direction in which the valve member biasing device acts.

  • Patent number: 8887217
Abstract: System and method embodiments for joint scheduling of buffered video on demand (VoD) and best effort flows within the same band enable improved quality of experience for VoD receiving mobile devices without resource partitioning or sacrificing FSS gains. In an embodiment, a method for scheduling video on demand flows and best effort flows within the same band includes determining with a transmission point (TP) a buffer vacancy for each of the ones of a plurality of mobile devices wirelessly coupled to a transmission point that are receiving VoD flows, calculating, with the TP, buffer vacancy scheduling weights for the plurality of mobile devices using the buffer vacancy, and determining, with the TP, a joint schedule of VoD flows and best effort flows based on the buffer vacancy scheduling weights.

  • Publication number: 20120246100
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for the extraction of keyphrases from natural text. For the purpose of this document, keyphrases are text segments that represent the main topic of a text. The method of the present invention may facilitate keyphrase extraction from any length of text. The text may be of several varieties, such as, for example a sentence, paragraph, document or collection of documents. Phrase separator methods may be applied to the text to extract phrases from the text. From these phrases the present invention may identify the one or more phrases that are integral to the meaning of the text and these may be identified as the keyphrases of the text. The text may be indexed using the keyphrases so that a search based upon any of the keyphrases will cause search engines and/or text retrieval means to retrieve the text.

  • Publication number: 20120233181
Abstract: The present invention may provide a system, method and computer program for searching a sub-domain that involves linking to other sub-domains. In particular, the present invention may provide a sub-domain search that ranks and/or weighs search results based on relevance, such relevance being determined by a calculation operating on a broader range of domain and/or sub-domains than a single sub-domain. The present invention may weight and score a search of web pages in a sub-domain based on the content of web pages in other sub-domains.

  • Patent number: 7717023
Abstract: Apparatus and accompanying methods for the detection and subsequent destruction or disablement of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) while maintaining a satisfactory level of human safety. Operationally, our inventive method and apparatus detects the IED using one or more methods including: detecting internal battery components; detecting magnetic signature(s) of the IED; detecting a characteristic energy spectrum of the IED; and/or detecting characteristic chemical signatures of the device(s). Once detected, the device may be further characterized and then subsequently deactivated and/or destroyed by a shaped pulse charge directed at the device or its power source (battery) from a safe distance.

Date of Patent: May 18, 2010
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Army
