    Abstract: An apparatus comprises a plurality of host devices each implementing one or more virtual resources that are migratable between the host devices, one or more networks comprising a plurality of network switches each coupled to one or more of the host devices, and a migration controller associated with one or more of the host devices. The migration controller is configured to monitor utilization of the network switches by their associated host devices and to direct migration of the virtual resources between the host devices based at least in part on the monitored utilization of the network switches. Responsive to detection of a first network switch having a utilization above a threshold, the migration controller identifies a second network switch having a utilization below the threshold and directs migration of at least one virtual resource from a first host devices associated with the first network switch to a second host device associated with the second network switch.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing data storage allocation and replication of user data in computing systems. For example, a method includes determining a ranking of each data center in the computing system for a given user of the computing system, and selecting a first data center to store a primary copy of user data, and a second data center to store a replica copy of the user data, based at least in part on the determined rankings of the data centers for the given user. The data centers are ranked using a ranking function which includes an access ratio that is determined as ratio of (i) a number of times that each of a total number of users in the given data center have accessed shared data of the given user to (ii) a number of data uploads that the given user has made to the computing system.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture comprising processor-readable storage media are provided for data storage path processing. For example, in one method, a data block is received from a first device over a communications network, wherein the data block is specified to be sent to a second device located on the communications network. A distributed data storage system is accessed to store the data block in a first datastore associated with the first device, and to store a copy of the data block in a second datastore associated with the second device. A notification message is sent to the second device over the communications network to notify the second device that the data block is stored in the second datastore. The method may be performed by an application server that is implemented in an IoT (Internet of Things) cloud computing system.
