  • Patent number: 10455404
Abstract: Technology to provide quality of experience aware multimedia streaming is disclosed. In an example, a server operable to provide hyper-text transfer protocol (HTTP) adaptive streaming, can include computer circuitry configured to: determine a bandwidth available to the server for transmitting HTTP adaptive streaming content to a plurality of clients; receive HTTP requests from the plurality of clients for representations offered by the server in a manifest file for the HTTP adaptive streaming; and calculate an availability of each representation that is offered in the manifest file for the server. The availability can be calculated, at least in part, based on the determined bandwidth. The availability of each representation can be communicated from the server to the plurality of clients.

  • Patent number: 9894130
Abstract: Technology for supporting dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol (DASH) is disclosed. A quality metric may be determined, at a network device, for each of a plurality of media content segments in a defined representation that are described in a media presentation description (MPD) file. Media content segments may be identified in the defined representation in which the determined quality metric is below a selected threshold. The identified media content segments may be replaced with corresponding media content segments from a different representation that are described in the MPD file to form a modified MPD file, wherein the quality metric for the corresponding media content segments is greater than the selected threshold in order to provide a substantially constant quality playback of the media content segments in the defined representation.

  • Publication number: 20060056511
Abstract: A method for block-based motion estimation, the flexible triangle search (FTS) algorithm is provided. The FTS is based on the simplex algorithm for optimization adapted to an integer grid. The proposed algorithm is highly flexible because of its ability to quickly change its search direction and to move toward the target of the search criterion. Motion estimation in a search window is in relation to a reference window. The motion estimation comprises searching. Searching is comprised of the steps of expanding, translating, contracting and reflecting. A system for block-based motion estimation is also provided.
