  • Publication number: 20230318306
Abstract: A microgrid (MG) controller can control a plurality of distributed generators (DGs) of photovoltaic (PV) arrays. The MG controller can include a power sharing unit configured to share power proportionally in a single current controlled mode (CCM) between the plurality of DGs based on a power capacity for each DG. The power sharing unit can include a robust current droop controller (RCDC) configured to provide proportional active current shared between the plurality of DGs. The power sharing unit can also include a quasi-proportional resonant (QPR) regulator coupled to the RCDC within a unified architecture. The QPR regulator can be configured to regulate a reference current signal.

  • Patent number: 9870593
Abstract: A system, method and controller for managing and controlling a micro-grid network. The system includes a plurality of energy resources including at least one dispatchable energy resource and at least one intermittent energy resource, wherein the at least one of the energy resources is an energy storage element and at least one of the intermittent energy resources is responsive to environmental conditions to generate power, a controller configured to record operational constraints of the energy resources, obtain an environmental condition prediction and generate a component control signal based on the environmental condition prediction and the operational constraints corresponding to the energy resources. The controller is further configured to receive a network disturbance signal and generate a dynamic control signal based on such disturbances.

  • Patent number: 8451140
Abstract: Monitoring road surface conditions using a mobile computer unit carried by a vehicle operating on a road network and adapted to detect information about the road surface conditions. The detection may be done by means of bump sensors which may also provide information on the size and the depth of the bump according to a detected shock with respect to the vehicle speed. Such information may then be transmitted to a central controller server. The central server may use the collected information for several purposes, such as help in planning maintenance of the road network; forwarded to users and vehicles for journey planning purposes; and to deviate traffic in case of extreme surface damage.

  • Publication number: 20120175965
Abstract: A photovoltaic structure having a reduced mismatch, and a system, method and computer program for reducing mismatch in a photovoltaic structure are provided. The photovoltaic structure has a plurality of photovoltaic elements arranged in a plurality of rows and a plurality of columns. The photovoltaic elements are electrically connected to one another in a plurality of parallel circuits connected together. At least two of the photovoltaic elements from one of the rows are connected in different parallel circuits to reduce partial shading loss for a plurality of time instants. The system, method and computer program provide a connection matrix for the photovoltaic structure based on irradiance levels for the photovoltaic elements to enable connection of the photovoltaic elements to one another to reduce partial shading loss for a plurality of time instants.

  • Publication number: 20120111391
Abstract: A photovoltaic structure is provided. The photovoltaic structure has photovoltaic elements that can be electrically connected to one another to reduce mismatch. The photovoltaic elements can be electrically connected based on sorting the photovoltaic elements by irradiance level, minimizing mismatch, or maximizing output power. Where sorting is used, the photovoltaic elements can be connected in a serpentine arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20090164063
Abstract: A vehicle-mountable system is provided for monitoring road surface defects. The system may include a detector to detect a surface defect in a road surface along which a vehicle is traveling. A positioning system may determine an instant location of the vehicle, and a repository may store a location of the surface defect with reference to the instant location. A controller unit may receive and compare the instant location with the location of the surface defect to identify an imminent surface defect encounter. The controller unit may also identify guidance instructions to minimize an effect of the imminent surface defect encounter. Finally, an interface may relay the guidance instructions to the vehicle.
