Patent number: 11413204Abstract: A mobility device that includes support assemblies that may be secured to feet, legs, thighs, and torso of a user. An exemplary mobility device may further include an actuator that may be coupled with the exemplary support assemblies and may actuate rotational movements of the exemplary support assemblies with respect to each other. Such movement of support assemblies may accordingly move respective limbs of a disabled user. An exemplary mobility device may allow for a user to change position from a lying position to a standing position or from a standing position to a sitting position, which may significantly increase mobility of a disabled user. An exemplary mobility device may further include an exemplary wheeled base that may allow a disabled user to further move around.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2020Date of Patent: August 16, 2022Inventors: Alireza Sanaei, Ehsan Azadi Yazdi, Negar Kouchak dezfouli, Mohammad Karim Najah, Seyed Alireza Razavi, Elnaz Kohanpour, Mahsa Kheirandish

Patent number: 11369988Abstract: Methods of curtain coating substrates are disclosed. In some embodiments, the methods include applying two or more liquid layers simultaneously to a substrate, wherein the multiple layers include a bottom liquid layer comprising a shear thinning liquid, and another liquid layer comprising a viscoelastic liquid. In some embodiments, the disclosed methods include formulating a bottom layer liquid comprising a shear thinning liquid, formulating another layer liquid comprising a viscoelastic liquid, pumping the bottom layer liquid and the other layer liquid through coating dies simultaneously and onto a moving substrate such that the bottom layer liquid impinges on the substrate thereby forming a bottom layer, and the other layer liquid forms another liquid layer above the bottom liquid layer. The inclusion of a bottom liquid layer comprising a shear thinning liquid and other layer comprising a viscoelastic liquid provides for enlargement of the curtain coating window.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2019Date of Patent: June 28, 2022Assignees: DOW GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES LLC, REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, ROHM AND HAAS COMPANYInventors: Alireza Mohammad Karim, Saswati Pujari, Wieslaw J. Patent number: 8649631Abstract: Disclosed is a distortion invariant system, method and computer readable medium for detecting the presence of one or more predefined targets in an input image. The input image and a synthetic discriminant function (SDF) reference image are correlated in a shift phase-encoded fringe-adjusted joint transform correlation (SPFJTC) correlator yielding a correlation output. A peak-to-clutter ratio (PCR) is determined for the correlation output and compared to a threshold value. A predefined target is present in the input image when the PCR is greater than or equal to the threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2013Date of Patent: February 11, 2014Assignee: Old Dominion University Research FoundationInventors: Mohammed Nazrul Islam, K. Vijayan Asari, Mohammad A. Karim

Publication number: 20080094122Abstract: A digitally controlled circuit is arranged to provide the combined functions of level shifting, multiplexing, and delay control functions. The circuit is compact, and uses lower power and lower overall noise susceptibility over other solutions. A programmable bias current is arranged to adjust the delay through the circuit. The bias current can be provided by a digitally controlled current source, a binary weighted current DAC, or other digitally controlled means. The multiplexing functions are provided by an input stage circuit that is current limited by the programmable bias current. An output stage is arranged to convert signals from the input stage to a desired voltage level.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Inventor: Mohammad Karim

Publication number: 20070137625Abstract: A work machine system is provided. The system comprises an engine including an air intake system and an exhaust system. The engine is configured to operate efficiently at a defined intake manifold temperature. A cooling system includes a cooling unit mounted at the frontal area of the work machine. The cooling unit houses a cooling component for engine intake air that is undersized relative to a cooling component designed for engine intake air to be delivered to an intake manifold at the defined intake manifold temperature. A control system is configured to operate the engine and the cooling system so that intake air is delivered to the intake manifold at a temperature higher than the defined intake manifold temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2005Publication date: June 21, 2007Inventors: Steven Daniel, Mohammad Karim, George Donaldson, Richard Fulcher

Patent number: 5257389Abstract: An inner-product array processor is provided with thresholding of the inner product during each iteration to make more significant the inner product employed in estimating a vector to be used as the input vector for the next iteration. While stored vectors and estimated vectors are represented in bipolar binary (1,-1), only those elements of an initial partial input vector that are believed to be common with those of a stored vector are represented in bipolar binary; the remaining elements of a partial input vector are set to 0. This mode of representation, in which the known elements of a partial input vector are in bipolar binary form and the remaining elements are set equal to 0, is referred to as trinary representation. The initial inner products corresponding to the partial input vector will then be equal to the number of known elements. Inner-product thresholding is applied to accelerate convergence and to avoid convergence to a negative input product.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1990Date of Patent: October 26, 1993Assignee: California Institute of TechnologyInventors: Hua-Kuang Liu, Abdul A. Patent number: 4798428Abstract: A system is disclosed for optically coupling together first and second fiber optic cables, having different or similar core diameters, to enable light to be transmitted from the first fiber optic cable to the second fiber optic cable with a minimum of light loss. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the system comprises a housing, first and second connectors, and first and second biconvex lenses. The first connector terminates the first fiber optic cable and also connects to a first housing portion of the housing to enable a first fiber end of the first fiber optic cable to protrude into the first housing portion. The second connector terminates the second fiber optic cable and also connects to a second housing portion of the housing to enable a second fiber end of the second fiber optic cable to protrude into the second housing portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1986Date of Patent: January 17, 1989Assignee: NCR CorporationInventors: Mohammad Karim, Madhu C.
