  • Patent number: 8671018
Abstract: An individualized discount and reward server includes one or more linked databases to store customer data associated with a loyalty program of a retailer. The server includes a processor configured to select a retail product from a plurality of retail products associated with the retailer. The processor determines a first percentage indicating a percentage of time the loyalty customer purchases the selected retail product on promotion, and determines a second percentage indicating an average percentage of time a plurality of customers forming a peer group purchases the selected retail product on promotion. Further, the processor determines a comparison result by comparing the first and second percentages. Additionally, the processor allocates at least one customized offer to the retailer account associated with the loyalty customer according to at least the comparison result.

  • Publication number: 20110288906
Abstract: An individualized discount and reward server includes one or more linked databases to store customer data associated with a loyalty program of a retailer. The server includes a processor to select a retail product purchased at least once by a loyalty customer. The processor determines, from at least a purchase history associated with the loyalty customer, an amount the loyalty customer spends on the selected retail product and an amount each customer from a plurality of customers forming a peer group spends on the selected retail product. Further, the processor compares the amount the loyalty customer spends on the selected retail product to the amount the peer group spends on the selected retail product to form a comparison result and allocate at least one customized offer to the retailer account according to at least the comparison result.

  • Patent number: 6304842
Abstract: A method of encoding signal segments which represent unvoiced plosives. The signal segments to be encoded are contained within a speech signal divided into m=1, . . . , N frames. Each frame is subdivided into l=1, . . . , L subframes. The speech signal has a gain gm(l) within each subframe. An energy measure em(l) representative of the signal segments' energy content is defined. An energy threshold eth(l) representative of a sudden energy change characteristic of an unvoiced plosive is also defined. For each frame, the energy measure em(l) and the energy threshold eth(l) are derived for each subframe within that frame. If em(l)≦eth(l) for each subframe within a particular frame, then a plosive locator lpl=0 and a plosive index ipl=0 are assigned to that frame to indicate absence of a plosive within that frame.

  • Patent number: 5815532
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing peak-to-average power ratio in a paging transmitter broadcasting an independent sideband amplitude modulation protocol is disclosed. A digital signal, for example a digital voice signal, is provided to a control gain generator which generates a digital gain sequence. The digital gain sequence is such that during peak values in the digital signal the gain is low and during low values in the digital signal the gain is high. The digital gain sequence is multiplied with the digital signal to compress the dynamic range of the digital signal.
