Publication number: 20240062519Abstract: A method for identifying a current context and determining a sensor combination based on the current environment. The method may comprise accepting a plurality of sensor outputs and implementing a CNN to convert the sensor outputs into a plurality of features that can be used to identify the context through use of a gating algorithm that additionally determines which sensors have the most importance and which have little or no importance. The method may further comprise executing sensor fusion in a manner corresponding to the context. For example, the context determines whether early fusion or late fusion should be implemented and which sensor outputs should be included in the said fusion.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2023Publication date: February 22, 2024Inventors: Mohammad Abdullah Al Faruque, Arnav Vaibhav Malawade, Trier Mortlock

Analog and digital co-design techniques to mitigate non-invasive spoofing attack on magnetic sensors
Patent number: 11614502Abstract: A structure for magnetic flux sensor conditioning is presented which partitions an input analog signal of unknown integrity into two: susceptible and insusceptible. The structure scrutinizes the susceptible signal partition, in view of additional guard sensor information, through a mixed-signal processing side-chain that employs a non-invasive physical magnetic attack detection algorithm. The side-chain either validates, or replaces with a best estimate, the susceptible signal partition, depending upon the absence or presence of attack, respectively. The structure finally recombines the scrutinized susceptible signal partition with the insusceptible signal partition. The result is an analog magnetic flux sensor signal that is robust against skillful, surreptitious, spoofing attacks. If unmitigated, such attacks may induce catastrophic consequences into systems relying upon the magnetic flux sensor.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2021Date of Patent: March 28, 2023Assignee: THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIAInventors: Mohammad Abdullah Al Faruque, Anomadarshi Barua -

Patent number: 11221346Abstract: In an embodiment, an ice-prevention dam for a pitot tube includes a body and a head. The body includes a notch having a substantially planar back, and the head extends from the body and has a substantially planar side that is substantially parallel to the back of the notch. Such a dam can prevent ice accumulation in a pitot tube, and can facilitate proper positioning of the dam. For example, during manufacture of a pitot tube, an assembler inserts the dam into a hole in a side of a pitot-tube body having a front opening such that the head of the dam is located outside of the pitot-tube body and a body of the dam is located inside of the pitot-tube body. Next, the assembler positions the dam by causing the substantially planar side of the dam head to be substantially parallel with the front opening of the pitot-tube body.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2017Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Sadique Mohammad Abdullah, Purushotham Reddy B., Narasimha Reddy Venkatarayappa, Murali Krishnan Payangapadan, Eswara Naidu Chikkala, Rama Sateesh Venkata Kandula

Patent number: 10903992Abstract: Point Optical Link communication security to help resolve the high resource requirements and lack of a trustworthy source of high randomness of existing communication security solutions is described herein. The scheme includes a novel model and a physical layer symmetric cryptographic key generation technique that focuses on exploiting the physical randomness manifested by the Polarization Mode Dispersion effect. This randomness makes it extremely difficult for an adversary to generate the same cryptographic keys as the communicating parties. 128 bit keys with low final mismatch rates (.ltoreq.10%) can be generated, which could easily be truncated for 64-bit and 32-bit keys if necessary.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2019Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIAInventors: Imam Uz Zaman, Anthony Bahadir Lopez, Mohammad Abdullah Al Faruque, Ozdal Boyraz
